So you guys are terrible and ended up giving me a tie. The good news is that I am terrible and had my weekends mixed up, so I actually do have time to air both things. (Except for Gina who voted against Gargoyles because she wanted to see it at a later date; then there's not really any good news.) That said!

First up, in both good-natured watching and as a tribute to the man himself, an intro to Discworld with the two-part miniseries, Terry Pratchett's Going Postal. Conman gets sentenced to running the city's derelict post office. Fantasy critique of capitalism, big business, and government service as well as a wonderful intro to the massive, sprawling Discworld universe of 40+ novels.



Then watch as as mega-billionaire, David Xanatos (yes, THAT Xanatos), moves an ancient Scottish castle to the top of a skyscraper of Manhattan thus breaking a thousand year old sleeping curse of the gargoyles who lived there.



I debated making it a double Pratchett night but decided to stick to the original options. Plus that means I can always show Colour of Magic and Hogfather later.

Annoying expressions

When I was a kid, pictures of hot guys always seemed to have this expression like they were trying to look like a cute puppy. Kind of droopy and sad. I thought it was kind of silly, at the time.

But now it's even worse! All the (supposedly) hot guys have this hard, glaring expression. The kind that says "I could beat the everloving crap out of you, do you really want to even think about getting out of line?" Honestly, I'd take the puppy-dog patheticness over someone looking like they'd murder me without a second thought if I made the tiniest mistake.

Why can't people just have normal expressions in pictures?

IDK that I necessarily agree with this viewpoint, but there are a significant amount of people who take the "Garbage IN = Garbage OUT" view towards viewing such things as mentioned in the secret. Like I say, I don't know that I agree...but that's only because I'd be a hypocrite, if I did. Though I don't exactly actively seek out anything quite as bad as what's mentioned in the secret. If certain members of my church knew I'd read a novel like Wetbones for instance (tho' they would have to have explained to them what the novel is, and is about), I'd likely be scheduled for the next available execution exorcism, well, you know what I mean.

What say you, FS? Does watching/viewing/reading violent things degrade your brain?

I've only recently come to the realisation that I've inherited my mother's way of thinking - guilt tripping to the max, anxious all the time, everything is a huge disaster, always expecting the worst outcome. I already have frown lines on my face and I'm 22.

What are some tricks you could use to turn those thoughts around? It's not good for me or anyone else around me, but I don't really know how to be different.
