Have you ever thought that a plot idea in one show would have worked better if it had been done more similarly to the way a very similar plot idea in a different show?

Or have you ever noticed other cool parallels where two shows share a very similar plot element, but develop them in two completely different directions?

I'm looking for a fanfic that pretty much collides the two. It was a couple of years ago, and it wasn't complete at all, but I remember a fanfic which had JK Rowling herself as a character in a Harry Potter fanfic. It was in the old author wakes up in their creation genre, and the plot was essentially that Rowling had found herself in Hogwarts, 11 years old again, and taking the place of Hermione Granger and getting things badly wrong because the story she wrote was not exactly how things kept playing out.

I'd love to read it again, if anyone can remember what it was called, or has a link, please. Or if anyone knows of a similar story?

Inspired by the thread above, this is a bit of a weird one and I'm nto even sure if rules allow it, but I'll go for it...

I like to work a lot with Netflix or the TV on in the background, but since I am working I don't like anything that I have to devote too much attention on or will get too wrapped up in plot or anything. As it is I mostly watch a lot of Law and Order and various cooking shows but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good background noise TV.
