Discomfort with getting help?

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable with getting help for free from other people?

Our family dentist is an old family friend and insists on doing everything for free. I was fine with it as a kid, but now that I'm an adult it feels awkward. Plus, he's my parents friend, so it feels like he's doing it for them and not really for me even though my parents insist it is fine.

So I've had a toothache for a week and a half and have been hiding it because of how uncomfortable it makes me. I can't exactly afford another dentist on account of being broke right now. I finally blurted it out when my mother asked what was wrong when I was annoyed and clearly in pain. So now we're calling the dentist on Monday. And the whole thing still makes me uncomfortable. I'd rather sit it out in pain.

Weekend (Holiday) Plans

What are everyone's plans for this weekend (since many of you probably have a three day weekend)?

I am doing Christmas tomorrow. Going to make homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast while we open presents. This will be the first year my nephew will actually participate!

On Saturday and Sunday, I'll be recovering from Christmas and preparing for the terrible winter storm we are supposed to be getting. Hopefully it isn't too bad because I'd like to work Monday.

Christmas Eve

Here where I am Christmas Eve has been over for an hour or two and I don't think I've ever been so relieved about that fact. My family celebrates on the 24th, so I went over there and...ugh. It wasn't terrible, but that's about it. I have never been so sure I don't want children IN MY LIFE and there was only the one little boy there. The timing was completely off, which meant we spent the entire evening telling the kid to be patient only to then have to go on a spree because he was dead on his feet and I had to catch my last bus. (And there were still presents under the tree when I left.) I was extremely ready to be home, but public transport being what it is, a trip that should take only half an hour now took an hour and a half.

Ugh.

But I've ranted, and now I'm wearing my Christmas jammies and my new fluffy bathrobe. The tree is lit and I've got my cat purring in my lap. And tomorrow more of the same, plus Doctor Who and no one to bother me aaaaalll day. FS, I hope your holidays are more like this part of my night, and not the rest of it.

I can understand liking the dynamic, but actively wanting it to be canon?...They were heavily foreshadowed to be related. There's no way Disney is going to do an incest story with their biggest cash cow.
