The ones they've rebranded as 'legends'. I love them, even the shitty ones, so they've been my and my family's idea of Star Wars for the last 20 years.

So, while I'm not MAD about the new movie, my feelings about it have been kinda "it's neat that Abrams gets to make a big movie of his fanfic but I know what REALLY happened." How do the rest of yall who like the books feel about the new film?

And while I'm asking about the EU, is there any part of it that you exclude from your personal canon? Like, for me, I hate the Dark Empire comic book arc so I pretend that didn't happen, and everything after New Jedi Order because that whole Yzzan Vong war arc was too depressing for me so I was like naaaaaahhh.

Hey, everyone. I just wanted to say thanks for all your positive thoughts yesterday. My sister is home now. They never figured out what it was, but she's got painkillers and seems to be doing better. She's here a couple extra days because of the airport closing because of storms, so if it flares up again she can go back to the hospital.

I know of some BL writers who have more realistic styles but I have trouble finding yuri titles that don't feature mushfaced/baby faced characters. Any recs? I can think of What Does the Fox Say and Gunjo but other than that, I'm drawing a blank.

Actually, any yuri recs are appreciated... I like yuri.

So the latest thing seems to be black guys and white girls. See Jessica Jones, Supergirl, and the new Star Wars.

Why is this trendy all of the sudden? I haven't seen much of the reverse (maybe that Sleepy Hollow show... but I don't think they actually get together? I don't watch that show). And not much with Asians, Hispanics, or Native Americans. Or anything else I may have forgotten.

Is this an an attempt at pissing off Dylan Roof kind of dudes? Getting rid of the predatory black man stereotype by making it look like white girls all want black guys?

I need to vent

So, my sister's fiance likes to tease a lot. He teases everyone. I hate being teased because it brings up memories of school and the bullying I was a target for.

So at dinner tonight, at some point my mother says this. And my sister pipes up that "everyone was teased." She does this all the time. Dismissing anything I say about our past by saying that everyone went through that.

First, people react to things differently. I take things more personally, always have. Second, she was teased, yes, but not to nearly the same extent. I was emotionally and physically and even sexually tormented all the way from elementary through high school. Admittedly, she doesn't know that last one. But she knows the rest. And yet she continually dismisses me and refuses to believe that I may have experienced things in ways that are unique to me.

And even more frustratingly, there was a period in our childhoods where she was really sick and didn't know it (Celiac) and reacted by lashing out at me. And yet in her mind all of that was just sisters fighting and we were both the same. Even though I never was as nasty or personal as her and I certainly never hit her the way she hit me.

I'm just sick of it. I love her, but I'm sick of her dismissing me every time I have a reaction that is different than her. She's the "suck it up and deal with it" type and expects everyone to be the same.
