I sometimes wish I were one of those people who still had best friends from high school or earlier. I don't mean people I'm still in touch with and see once a year or once every five years, I mean people I still meet for coffee once a week. I know that's rare, but some people do have that, and I envy it a little.

I'm just not a people person. And I don't have and have never had close friends. I've had friends and I've had acquaintances. But I've really only ever been super close with my family.

That's not the secret part because I know I'm not alone it that The secret part is that I don't care. I'm fine with it. In the past, I've felt the need to make closer friends just because I believed that was something I had to do and everyone told me I needed them. But I tried and tried and it never worked. And you know what, I've realized I'm happy without.

I have work, I have family, I have a few groups of acquaintances I hang out with occasionally. And that's it. And I'm cool with that. I like being alone. I actually wish I had more time alone if anything.

I want friends but at the same time, I’m doing ok being by myself I think. Interacting with other people is hard and tiring and whenever I go through a phase where I want to make friends very badly I second guess everything I say and do and feel extremely put out when I fail. (This can double as a fandom secret I guess?)

I have a hard time trusting other humans. Whenever someone says "you can talk to me about anything" or some other thing that society says you should say, I just think "yeah, right." Been burned by enough people to know that there is absolutely a limit on the topics allowed to be discussed.

It's weird because otherwise, I try not to think the worst of others. But something about making promises really triggers my bullshit button.

I'm probably more conservative than I originally thought I was. I don't believe that "trans women are women" or "abortion isn't murder" but I wish I did. Whenever I try to look up stuff to try to change my mind, I end up doubling down on my initial position.

I tried to be open minded about the fat acceptance / HAES movement but a brief scroll through the blog my friend tried to get me to read about it was enough to make me so mad.

Giving people bad advice and telling them to ignore their doctors concerns because it's discrimination when they're honest about the fact that being obese puts you at risk for a multitude of problems? That's fucked up.

I couldn't read past a mother posting to assure her followers that she was going to ignore the diet the doctor prescribed for her child because she thinks diets are torture and mommy knows best.

I'm genuinely horrified that these people exist and it has nothing to do with their clothing size. They're insane.

I think it's kinda hilarious how many "enbys" suddenly turn into women again as soon as a women-only-related event (like #visiblewomen on twitter etc.) rolls around.
And then I think "No, fuck off. You made such a big song and dance about being ~NOT A WOMAN (tm)~ so stick with it. You made your bed, now lie in it.".
