Giving NanoWriMo a shot

I've decided to try to do NanoWriMo this year, (I've been too intimidated to join the last few times) in hopes that it will help me actually WRITE a story that's been in in my mind developing since I was 16. I'm really just want to get something so I can start writing and working with. So I can feel like I'm making progress . Every night I go to bed I feel guilt because I haven't DONE anything.


Anybody have tips for NanoWriMo to get to 50,000 words? I have the story outlined by chapter so I have a general idea of where I want to go with it.

Like every time Rocky Horror is on television, I'll stop, watch it and shout lines back to the television like you would do in a live production. Even though no one is around but me, it makes viewing the movie so much better.

I'm catching up on the last season of the show and am now craving fic like mad. Especially of the Merlin/Mordred kind, but at this point any with Merlin will do. Any pairing (as long as Merlin's in it), gen, canon-era or modern AU, magic reveal fic, dark fic, long fic, short fic - anything, really. Or just point me towards some trusty rec lists. After my hiatus from fandom I can't even navigate the kinkmeme anymore, never mind remember where I found the good fic.

So I finally finished Off the Record (the frostiron fic). It was pretty damn good! I don't know why I put it off for so long. But now I have nothing to read. :P

I hate this cold so much right now.

I've tried everything to get relief and none of it worked. I think the worst part is trying to sleep. I'm sleeping pretty much sitting up(and then my back hurts the next day) and every time I'm almost asleep I cough until I gag and then I'm wide awake again. I get maybe an hour's sleep a night. Then I'm tired all day with a sore back that hurts worse when I hack and cough. I so can't wait to be over this cold. Twelve more days of this shit to go.

I know exactly who I got it from and he's an asshole for coming up to me and hugging me. (Bastard didn't mention he was sick till after the hug.)

On the bright side, maybe this means I won't be sick and miserable over Christmas.

Justify your ships that pass in the night

You how sometimes fandom latches on to ships that are between characters who don't have much interaction at all? Well, I think some of them are criticized unfairly, because even if they don't have much actual canon interaction, the potential for how their interactions could go, given their canon personalities/histories, can still be really interesting. But there are other ships of that sort that I just. Don't. Get. I assume most of them have good reasons to ship them, but I would need a fan to point out the reasons for me to see them.

So, this is a thread for either a) asking "what's the deal with ship x/y?" -- meant to actually get someone to answer and give a good explanation for what the deal is, not an excuse to make snide remarks about x/y, mind. Or b) explaining why you like x/y and why it makes sense even though a lot of people say it doesn't.

An episode/scene you wish had happened

Pick a show. Or a book. Or a series. Or a movie. Or whatever. Now, describe a scene you wish had been inserted into it. Not a scene that should have happened instead of some other scene. Not a scene that makes a drastic change to the actual in-universe sequence of events. Just an extra scene you wish had made it into the story alongside the actual canon scenes.

If it's from a TV show (or some other short serial type of fiction), feel free to expand this from a scene that you wish had happened to a full episode that you wish had happened.

Cocaine use/withdrawal symptoms

So, I'm writing a fic where I have to depict the symptoms of both cocaine use and cocaine withdrawal (three guesses what fandom it's in, lol). I've been researching on the internet (trying to find reputable sources), but I'd also like to ask here, because there's nothing quite like getting an answer from a real person who has done really extensive research or has familiarity with the issue through their job/life experiences or has observed these symptoms first- or second-hand.

So...yeah. Hope this isn't rude or insensitive, but I'd like to know if anyone wants to help me out!

Anyway, I've stopped giving a fuck when entitled BioWare fans bitch and moan. They've put out so much cool merch, and you can't please everybody or make it all. Besides, they're always coming out with new stuff.
