Apparently the hiatus did some good because I'm starting to like him too. I still miss Sweets so fucking much but Aubrey was adorable with Christine last night and I appreciate that he's trying to help Booth.

Still mad they didn't want a few episodes to introduce him, though. I think we would have handled the transition better if they had done that instead of doing so immediately.

Text: I never put David Mitchell on a pedestal, or considered him my favourite comedian. But I liked him enough to buy his memoir and let it take up space in my holiday luggage.

On one hand, I thought it had good moments. On the other, some stuff he said hit some of my pet peeves: thinking GCSEs are objectively easier nowadays, listing that Britain was relatively not the worst empire as one reason he’s proud to be British. I get why people say things like the first even if I disagree. For the latter, I get that maybe I’d feel it’s an ok thing to say if I were born and raised a white Brit. I’m neither, though I sympathise slightly on the whole “I’m middle-class but not as middle-class as you think” thing (which in my experience is outweighed in the end by being able to afford important shit, so I felt he did go on about it a bit too much).

But what I took away from it was that I can’t imagine myself ever writing something that honest. Or that looks that honest.
