Agreed. I never hated her because she was a woman or for "getting in the way of 1x2", I hated her because she was obnoxious and falling in love with someone who says they are going to kill you is not a trait that I can connect with.

Granted, she did grow in the series and all. But nothing that really made me like her.

It's so fucking bad (the movie; I haven't read the book but I assume it's similar).

I'm not a hugely judgmental person, and I watched it thinking that it would be, basically, schlock that wasn't mean to appeal to me, but basically just schlock. And it wasn't, it was really really fucking bad in a way that was extremely unpleasant and just made me really, really unhappy in a way that works of fiction almost never do.

Fuck that fucking stupid-ass movie.

I think that's something the show actually addresses? The Gems, while they love Steven, clearly have trouble with Steven sometimes. They get frustrated when he can't do things Rose could do. Hell, in a recent episode Steven straight up said he sometimes thinks the Gems resent him.

The show is highly aware of it and addresses it as a problem that negatively affects Steven.
