I haven't noticed Lewis being any more of an ass than he's always been. (Which is to say, not much of one? A lot of his jerk tendencies seem more like part of his try-hard youtube persona than who he actually is irl.)

I suspect they probably broke up because sometimes that's just how shit works out. They still seem to get along really well, and if Lewis was really such a jerk you'd think there'd be some sign of tension between him and the other Yogs.

See, in the original version of the musical (Rice and Webber did a whole full cast concept album before it got on stage), and he actually *was* an actual character. He was a scientist who invented an insecticide, but got turned down for funding by the Eva Peron Foundation (because killing bugs isn't glamorous or a heart warming story), resulting in him becoming really bitter and hating her personally. Hence him narrating the musical in a really snarky and critical way of her.

I wish I could get a digital copy of that album, my dad has it on LP, and I had it recorded to tape for ages. There were so by things that get changed of the worse, imo.

Exactly the same with me. I actually burst out laughing when she first did it. I wanted her to die for weeks and now I want her to live happily ever after. As long as Ed survives too and she stays as bonkers as she is.

I don't think it's bad, I think many people just oppose going back and changing an (older) work of art, it's just that not everyone sees movies as a work of art.

I mean, it's sort of like if the Beatles would decide to change lyrics o some of their songs 30 years after they were released, or that Picasso would redo famous paintings at the end of his life.

People who love the original are going to have strong feelings about that
