Thanks to painkillers I just had this weird Star Wars/Middle Earth/Lovecraft crossover dream where I was an elf jedi who had to kill this squid monster thing who was coming out of the Void and who was the first Sith or something.

I have a lot of weird dreams, but this one is the weirdest I've had at least in a while.

So I'm going to house sit for my parents for the week. They have a pretty big house (two floors + basement) and it makes creaky noises. They've been gone like twenty minutes and I've already convinced myself that there's someone hiding somewhere inside and I am about to die.

I also can't watch scary movies. I just can't, ever. Even dumb ones. The suspense and disturbing imagery gets scarred in my head and its all I can see when I try to sleep for like, weeks.

why am I so lame. I don't think I'm that cowardly of a person, but I'm easily scared.

Isn't that too long? I thought drabbles were meant to be really short. I seem to remember reading one upon a time that they had to be exactly 100 words.

What's the cut-off these days? Is there even a cut-off? Is everything that doesn't have chapters a drabble now?

So I'm back into being active again after about 15 years of just lurking, and I feel just totally at a loss. I made a new tumblr, built up a decent queue, made sure I'm tagging fandoms properly so people can blacklist what they dont' want to see if they follow me. Then I posted my latest fanart piece to both tumblr and DA.

The reception on DA I felt was pretty good, quite a few fandom comms featured it and it's gotten a fair number of favs so far. But on tumblr, nada. Mostly because I don't have any followers yet. I'm kind of at a loss as to how to get followers, I guess? Posting more original fanart and waiting is the obvious solution.

Anyway I'm not really looking for advice. Mostly just wondering if anyone else has experience the New Tumblr Blues and that feeling of chucking their fanworks into the void and waiting for an echo?

I had the yard expansion, I'd gotten Guy Furry, Mr. Meowgi, Xerxes IX, Peaches, Conductor Whiskers, Billy the Kitten, and of course, that king among cats, Tubbs... and then I shattered my phone. All that hard work - all those kitties - gone, forever. I am distraught.

I've reached the uncomfortable age where everyone around me has either started settling down or are about to. Marriage, kids, house, the lot.
I'm single, have no intention to procreate. I'm dreaming about buying my own house in the future, but I'm broke and jobless. I had to move back to my parents' house because of my financial situation. It's gonna take a while.

My grandma is from a time when having kids at 18 was the norm. And seeing as I'm female, I get the good ol' "you're gonna die alone with cats" spinster treatment.
I'm no beauty queen, but I get propositioned by creeps on the regular. Sex doesn't feel like anything.
My grandma thinks that I can't score a date, not only because of my lack of beauty, but because I don't put in the effort. I'm pretty sure if I was lonely and desperate, I'd have settled down a long time ago.

I've tried explaining to her that my current situation in life doesn't leave me much room for dating. I really don't need the added stress either.

And she doesn't get it. Her and all my extended family is rich, so they don't have to deal with the same issues me and my parents have to deal with.
I have to figure out how to scrape up enough money to be able to afford a vet, or a dentist, or new clothes so I can go out in public. I'm sending out job applications daily and looking for a cheap place to rent.
And during all that, somehow, I'm supposed to make time for boyfriend candidates my grandma has graciously tried to set me up with.

I'm somewhere between humiliated, sad and furious.
It's really started to take a toll on my relationship with my grandma.
Talking doesn't help. I make excuses so I don't have to see her.
I want her out of my life and I feel shitty for wishing that.

Trust me, my situation is much worse than yours. But I can relate to your pain and I hope your grandmother quits pestering you soon. :)

I'd be mad, too. :( I don't want any relationships either, and if anyone tried to pressure me into one, I think I'd push them away for my own sanity. You aren't obligated.
