Earth's Children, which is really just one website (ecfans.com) plus ff.n and Ao3. There may be a tumblr fandom, but the series doesn't really seem... tumblrish.

Also, I'm not in the fandom anymore, but Mad Men fandom was always small. I'm not even sure there really was a fandom.

Killer Instinct. It's the only fandom I have any real interest or interaction in these days, since I've largely left everything else behind. You'd think for a fighting game, it'd be a less than desirable fandom. And sure, there's a couple unsavory people, but overall it's a really diverse and all-around great group. Plus you have generally positive people like Maximilian Dood involved, so things stay pretty real.

The trade off is that there's like, zero fan fiction (that's not on FF.net) and barely any fan art, but oddly enough? I'm okay with that. It's nice to just enjoy something and talk about it with other people and not have to worry about high school-style fandom*politics for a change.

I have so many small fandoms, and for some reason I think they hold my attention/love longer than the big ones do. Maybe because I don't get the opportunity to binge on huge amounts of fic and then burn out on it.

My favourites are Jurassic Park III, Watchmen, Zombieland, Lewis, The History Boys, Justified, Die Hard, Band Of Brothers/HBO War, Fury, Rush.

Video Games Economics

So after reading a bunch of Foucault and about the theory of money and coin as a sign etc etc, I got to thinking about video games (as you do), and specifically ones like JRPGS where monsters drop money.

Now, there are several theoretical ways this can be excused: 1) monster eats people, and somehow the money is from them
2) you're being "paid" a bounty for killing it
3) you're "selling" parts for hides or potions or whatever.

But I got to trying to come up with alternatives. I mean, either way since monster killing is so lucrative, there has to be a really pressing reason why everybody isn't just killing monsters for cash (and thus breaking the economy), or trying to farm monsters for money (maybe they don't breed in captivity...?).
I even went so far as to consider, what if the "coins" in their world are not minted coins at all, but some sort of natural material which is found in monsters, and has been accepted universally as a representation for wealth. I mean, that's still a pretty broken economy, but I do think it would be an interesting way to play with things.

Any other economic theories you can think up, or ways to make things less broken?

So you know do what you're gonna do, if that's BDSM then all the more power to you as long as everything's consensual.

But why, WHY, would you do things that cause bruises in places you can't cover up if you know it's gonna make people at your work ask questions? It's really not that hard to do play that only bruises places you can cover with clothing. And if you don't feel like doing that, then don't BITCH about getting asked questions by people at work when you know you're going to!

Like I don't give a shit about how alternative lifestyles should be accepted and all that. How is anyone supposed to know, just from looking, that you're all beat up because you WANT to be and not because something sketchy's going on in your personal life? Also, how the fuck is it appropriate to be like, "well it's my sex life you guys" at work? There's a time and a place for things.
