Not to judge all anime fans out there (I am one, come on) but since many shows are aimed at a younger audience, the BNFs of anime fandoms tend to be the biggest douche kabobs to ever walk the Earth. I like to think they grow out of it (your BNF, male or female, may not have though, so I understand.)

I'm really sorry you had to go through all of that, but instead of trying to record conversations IRL, I really think that you should just wipe your hands clean of this person once and for all. She/he's done nothing but bring you misery, and continuing to try and bring this person down will only hurt you even more in the end.

You know it's fine to refer to a transperson retrospectively as their birth-gender, don't you? We won't hunt you down and kill you for remembering us as the gender we don't identify as, especially if you've not seen us for years.

Stop leaping to the asshole's defense. They did vile things to the OP, regardless of their gender identity and y'know what? It makes us look bad and hurts the chance of people other than you confounded social justice types ever taking us seriously if somebody asks "So, why are you posting stuff under a male guise?" and they respond with "Because male authors are more respected in fandom than girls".

The secret wasn't about the subject of the secret coming to terms with their gender identity, it was about the OP having suffered abuse from this cruel idiot and having it waved away with a lame 'Oh, I was just acting out'.

Let it go and get away from that person. I understand feeling like you need to get payback, but you're only stressing yourself out unnecessarily wishing you could do it. It was a shitty time in your life, but it has passed and you should try to get on with your business and say 'fuck 'em'. Eventually the bitterness will pass and you'll feel much better.

You need to find some way to let this go, OP. I'm going to get jumped for this, but every person I've known who's gone through gender reassignment surgery is majorly, MAJORLY fucked up in the head. If you're looking for some sort of vindication or apology or some sense of... I don't know, being shown as right for what happened, you're never going to get it.

Even if they weren't going through their own issues, this person clearly was abusive. You did the right thing in distancing yourself from them. Continue to do so and LET IT GO.

Unfortunately, calling this person out on their bullshit probably won't be as effective as you'd like, OP. My advice is to sever your ties with them (as best you can, since you can't help running into someone by accident). If this person really does talk smack about their fans, and they really are as big a bitch as you've come to learn, eventually people will catch on. It may be later rather than sooner, but the fandom's just going to have to figure it out for themselves. No sense in stirring up a shitstorm; it'll just make things harder on you.

I read this secret several times, but I couldn't find anything in it that can be read as mockery of the 'BNF'. Going through gender transitioning is a rough time and this person deserves sympathy, but that is a separate issue from the fact that he's acted like an asshole for the longest time (even accounting for margins of error in the OP's claims). Trying to get away with it by blaming it all on being transgendered is inexcusable. This idea that every transgendered person should be treated like some fragile thing is not actually progressive.

Well, your friend certainly SOUNDS like a bad person, but I'm always wary of stories that involve one party badly wronging another with seemingly little to no provocation. It could be true, but more often than not the truth ends up being a little more complicated than "X totally attacked me for no reason, she's just a crazy bitch".

In short it is impossible to draw a conclusion about the moral character of two individuals we are not even certain exist, and I don't know why we always try to do that. Because it's fun, I guess.
