Hello! Another request today that I had fun finding pictures for. I've featured raccoons before (and might do so again in the future) and I've featured dogs more than once, so it's about time there's a post on raccoon dogs. These lovely creatures are also known as tanuki, and they're indigenous to East Asia.

While they might definitely bear quite a lot of similarities in appearance to raccoons, they belong to the Canidae family. Raccoons are Procyonidae, instead, and they're really not that closely related at all. In the present day, they also live in various parts of Russia and Eastern Europe, to which it was introduced during the early to mid-20th century, and can even range until places like Germany and Sweden.

Let's take a look at what they're like now!

Ok, I know I'm a year or two behind the times with this but I just watched the third Transformers film tonight and. Wow. What shitty writing! I watched the first two earlier in the week and I still managed to not give a damn about a single thing that happened in that movie. I don't have much else to say about it, really, I just can't get over how badly written it was. ugh.

This is a weird question but this seems to be the place for random questions lately, so...

I work for a small business, and my bosses want me to revamp their website. I've designed sites before but it's been a few years and they were pretty simple. My bosses want a flash animation/slideshow type thing, and I've never worked with flash, plus since I'll be working on it in between my other job duties, I'd rather do it the quickest/easiest possible way. I know there are a lot of different programs out there now, but I don't even know where to begin. I may just be in over my head and they need to hire a person specifically to do the site for them, but they don't have a lot of money to spend and I would rather learn how and do it myself if at all possible.

Are there any programs anyone can recommend? From my research Dreamweaver seems to come up a lot but is there something better out there? And can anyone suggest any sites or tutorials that will help me out with the flash stuff?

Any suggestions/advice anyone could give would be great!

I want to get into Transformers but I'm not sure how. I don't care about the stupid-ass Bay movies, but what's the best way to get into the animated stuff? Should I do it linearly, from G1 and go through the shows in chronological order (I don't think I have the patience to do that thoroughly)? Or do you guys have specific series/season/episode recs (or arcs? Do they have arcs in Transformers?) for me? Any Dork Ages I should avoid? Any specific show that sucked in comparison to another?

Since you're mostly older and wiser than me and probably have a lot of thoughts on this subject, I thought it would make sense to ask you this... what exactly is the difference between romantic and platonic love? Is it just physical attraction and the absence thereof? Can the most important person to you, the love of your life, be someone you're not attracted to? Because after a day of sobbing over a real-life best friendship that ended badly recently and reading a few interesting essays on Troy/Abed and the nature of "bromance", I really have no idea how feelings or relationships work and I'm realizing I never did (well, duh, I'm 16). And yes yes yes I know, fiction=/=reality, but the media we consume DOES affect how we see the world around us. (And no, this comment doesn't sound any less stupid in my head. I just don't really have anyone in real life to talk to this about and feelings are really, really difficult).

friending etiquette woes

So I have this friend who participated in a fic exchange last year. The requester didn't like what my friend wrote and never commented on it, but sent a friend of theirs to flame it instead and it escalated in a nasty kerfluffle.
A few months after the tactless requester has friended me over another fandom. I very reluctantly added them back.
And now their flamer friend has friended me too. They even sent me a PM to tell me "am not a spambot plz add me back" and I'm torn. What I want to do is answer something in the lines of
"Oh yeah, I know you're not a spambot: you're the troll who created this account just to flame my friend over something you had no part in whatsoever then never used it again, whom everybody thought was a sockpuppet, who managed to frame your friend as a flamer, a liar and a hypocrite.
Now I know everybody has the right to make mistakes and to get a second chance, but so you know, if you want to make friends in fandom, don't do that shit ever again."

I got a new car several months ago. My best guy friend wanted me to make him a key "for emergencies" but I refused because while I love him I don't trust him not to randomly decide he needs to "borrow" my car (his is a piece of crap and is constantly breaking down).

Fast forward to yesterday, when I'm giving my best (female) friend a ride somewhere. She decided she needed to confess to me that she had stolen my keys a couple months ago while I was in a meeting and gone and gotten a copy made for my guy friend because she "felt bad for him". I thought at first she was trying to make a joke, but no, apparently she's serious. Evidently she realized she made a mistake, and went to try to get the key back from him but he'd made another copy. At that point I pulled over and made her get out at a gas station and vowed to never speak to her again (not my best moment, I'll admit, but I was beyond pissed, and it wasn't in a dangerous part of town or anything...she survived to complain about what an evil bitch I was on Facebook a few hours later).

At this point I'm done with both of them, as clearly neither of them are actually my friends, but I'm not sure what to do since apparently there are all these copies of my key floating around out there and it's not like a house where I could just go get the locks changed. As far as I know my car's never been "borrowed" in any of this time but I hate knowing there are people with the key and it could be.

Am I overreacting to this, or am I right to be this fucking angry? What do I do in this situation?
