I just got a tumblr, and all the pretty pictures and stuff are nice, but I'm just not sure how to find basic things on the site. Like: how do I find out who's following me? There must be a way, right? I feel like I need one of those Home Computing for the Elderly books, and I'm not even that old. :(

Do you associate songs with the scene or vid you first heard them in?

I will forever associate "Hallelujah" with Kirk/Spock and "Rolling in the Deep" with Charles/Erik, because I first heard the songs in fanvids about those couples. Same with Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" and the Ninth and Tenth Doctor. And P!nk's "Cuz I Can" with Tony Stark.

Whenever I hear Massive Attack's "Angel", I think of the fourth season finale of The West Wing, whenever I hear "How To Save A Life" I think of that scene from Scrubs, and whenever I hear Pigeonhead's "Battleflag" I think of the Valentine's day stabbing in ER.

Sometimes I sit down and eat way too much and end up uncomfortably full. It's a habit from being raised to see leaving food on the plate as bad. Usually I don't overeat, but when I do, I go puke it out and feel better. This happens maybe once a month at events like family dinners where people keep piling food on, or the meal lasts for so long I forgot how much I ate.

Now people are concerned I'm bulimic or something. Is there any truth to that if this has nothing to do with body image? Or can I tell them they're being too concerned?

Backstory: My great-grandmother and grandmother were both heathens and passed on a lot of their traditions to me. My immediate family are evangelical xtians and while they're not openly hostile to other religions I never felt comfortable breaking away while I lived with them. I had an alter up for a while and got a lot of "oh are you doing your weird pagan stuff again?" flack.

Now I'm at a point in my life where I can actively practice something that calls to me, but I don't know where to begin. I'm a queer POC and I know that while plenty of heathen organizations are very inclusive, there's also the fuckwad racist branches (as there are in any religion). I know Wotanism is white-supremacist, but what about the organizations who advertise themselves as being inclusive? Like the Troth?

And, does anyone have any blog / tumblr / LJcomm / etc. recs for Asatru, Seidr, or even general pagan or wiccan stuff?

What do you do when a family member is going through a hard time, and you're not there at home with them? I'm so bad with my words, I can never think of the right thing to say on the phone. My mom told me recently that she has severe macular degeneration, and at some point she will go blind. She's an artist, so this hits her especially hard. I don't know how to comfort her. I don't even know what to do. I'm so sad for her that it's hard for me to even think about anything else. How do you even cope with this sort of thing when it's always looming over?

So, started watching Lucky Star - and the main character has been suggested to have a complex about her limited height.

Well I got to thinking that I've actually noticed this in a number of shows. Is this an actual thing in Japan? Or just another anime exclusive artifice.

Seems odd if it is a thing given the obsession with cute and such.

I hear you. I was on a BC pill where I was spotting practically every month no matter how careful I was about taking the pill on time. It also made me break out in acne all over my chest and shoulders. I stuck with it for a year and a half with no improvement.
