Tiny little fictional moments that make you cry

What are some very minor, insignificant moments in fiction that totally make you cry even though they're not played as a big deal and most other fans don't seem to notice? Just little things like, a throwaway line, or a little gesture or a brief facial expression, or a glimpse of a background event, or a thought or observation on the part of a character in a book, or something. Not elements of some big significant tear-jerking scene, just tiny details that popped out at you.

Rewrite a fictional event better than canon did!

Think back to some OOC, crappily-executed, problematic, or otherwise stupid and anger-inducing thing that happened in a fictional story and fix it! Without actually changing or deleting the basic event (i.e., x and y getting together/breaking up, x dying, y having a baby, z turning evil, w leaving a show, etc), suggest an alternate way the writers should have done the event.

...and it makes me feel very blue. I feel so bad for her and her kids and her husband, because they did seem like a really happy family.

On another level it makes me suddenly feel insecure about the way I was planning to raise any children I might hopefully have. I'm into the long-term breastfeeding, homeschooling, co-sleeping thing and now I'm scared that it could break up a marriage I might hopefully have (even though that's how I was raised and my folks have been together 25+ years).

Though she did state it had nothing to do with her attachment parenting stuff. It's just sad any way you look at it though. ):

So...my dad does something that isn't legal. It's nothing like dealing drugs, but if the police were to know about it...yeah, it wouldn't be something they take lightly. I've never really addressed it in my mind until now, when I was handed a huge wad of cash to give to my dad since he's not home. I could just continue to live life acting like I don't know what's going on, but now all I can think about are the possible things that can happen. I can't try to talk him out of it because I know my mom has in the past and nothing's really changed. I come from an old fashioned Asian family as well, so it's kind of like...not in my place to talk to my parents about this. So I feel like I'm stuck with my thoughts.

Anyone have any interesting, funny, or not very pleasant tales of their family's shady stuff? No need for details if you don't want.

I really don't think my current medication to manage my bipolar is working anymore, and right now I'm freaking the fuck out at the prospect of having to see my therapist next week. I can't stand the woman, and she barely knows half of what's going on with me because I hide shit from her, but I can't switch doctors at the moment and I'm even more fucking insane without my damn pills.

Seriously, I'm on the verge of tears right now because I can't get over how much of a fuck-up I am and how awful I've been to everyone this past month. And of course I'm also restless as hell right now, but I have the feeling that if I get in my car to go anywhere, I'm going to run into a fucking pole or something. Jesus christ, I want it to stop.

So, I have this ex-hookup. We hooked up for about six months until he started to freak me out by going all dom on me without telling me first. So he cut off contact.

Years go by, and I find out he married my childhood best friend. She winds up divorcing him, although I don't know why and I didn't ask.

Today, I see on the news that he became a nurse practitioner with his own practice. He was arrested after he tried to make a woman and her four daughters (including one who is 18 months old) into his sex slaves. He wanted to "break her [the 18 month old] in". He wanted to move them to Maine where they basically would live, and he'd have sex with all five of them, and he wanted them to be homeschooled so that no one would know and that it wouldn't be harmful to the girls if it was done correctly.

I wonder what would have happened if we had become serious. I know he wanted me to give up my job and live with him. And the one time I was over his apartment, he kept me naked until dinner time when we had Chinese delivered. (All the other times, he came to my place.)

Freaked the FUCK out.

First time baking brownies - take two

So, I've decided to try baking brownies for the first time tomorrow! I'm pretty sure I've got everything I need - flour, cocoa, chocolate chips, sugar, etc. - and I found a really easy recipe online, but I just wanted to hear whether any of you have any tips on making them come out extra delicious? Secret techniques or maybe a family recipe you wouldn't mind sharing? I want to give some away to a couple of friends since their birthdays are coming up, and I'm kind of nervous ... I hope that they come out okay!

Do you bake? What kinds of goods do you normally make? This is my first time but I want to learn - I think it'll be loads of fun!

instant pudding makes the texture nice and soft (if that's what you're going for). you don't have to make it, just mix 1 packet of instant pudding in with the rest of your dry ingredients. chocolate pudding or mocha pudding is best.
