Food/Nutrition question

We're a group of pretty smart people here, so I'm just going to toss this question out and see if anything sticks: What makes us feel full? Is it calories, quantity or quality?

I mean, let's say I'm feeling a little peckish, and I have the option of a handful of french fries or an equal number of carrot sticks chopped to the same dimenions as the fries -- the carrots will clearly have fewer calories, but will they leave me feeling as full, more full or less full than the handful of fries? Or do I have to eat enough carrots to equal the calories in the fry option? Does the fact that they are carrots and thereby full of other good things beyond fat and starch make a difference as far as "I was hungry. Now I'm not," goes?

I just wanted to express my gratitude to a couple of people.

I. Thank you, dear author of Winnie-the-Pooh fanfic that was once posted on f!s. Your nickname, if I remember right, was bluebell? I enjoyed it, it was at the same time cool, sick and terrifying.

II. Thank you, dear person who said that they loved Closing Time! You cheered me up immensely. And it was awfully sweet that you wanted to write to Heller.

I'm in love with the scene where Yossarian fetches up at Tilyou amusement park - there's such a great bittersweet subtext to it, and I just like the cultural connection between gloom and merry-making.

Also for some reason I can't get Adrian Leverkühn out of my head. "Apocalypse" must be truly great.

And the wedding scene!

When I started reading it, I wanted to write a Closing Time fanfic, but then I discovered that Heller already got the same idea and embedded it into the book o_O Although Lew and his green apples still refuse to leave me alone.

And yes, I agree that it was nice to see what happened to them. Although in the beginning I kept feeling upset about how of all the great characters of Catch Heller chose Milo Minderbinder and ex-Sergeant Wintergreen. Just. Why.

And Leon Schumaher was almost an exact copy of Doc Daneeka.

It probably wasn't as great as Catch, true, yet all the hate it gets? I suppose it's largely because it's not the Catch itself.

During a long commute today, I started thinking about where my hands go on the steering wheel. I tend to favor 7 and 3 for city driving, and one hand at 12 for long stretches of highway. How about you?

So I'm a preschool teacher at a private school so we have a primary school in the same compound. There's this kid who registered late to primary because his mother 'forgot he was of age' (yeah idk that's what she said). So the head teacher of preschool said to let him into preschool to let him get used to the school environment, and in the mean time, she'd teach him how to read.

On the second day he came to school screaming that he was scared and didn't want to learn from her because she would get angry at him. He sounded so terrified, and I know our head teacher has a ... history of being a little harsh with words, but everyone else says he'll be fine and he's kicking up a fuss because he doesn't want to learn. I'm not so sure though. I won't go into detail, but I know what it's like to be scared shitless of someone and he reminded me awfully of some of my own experiences. Idk, nobody seems to think it's anything and I might be making a mountain out of a molehill, but I'm worried.

Okay, share work problems here.
