Good news/bad news

Good news: Our Jack Russell's leg is recovering beautifully from his knee surgery two weeks ago, and his sunny disposition hasn't faltered.

Bad news: His digestive tract isn't doing as well as the rest of him. Now he's on a whole slew of fun new medications for colitis, and he can only eat ground beef and rice until it clears up. Not that he seems to mind that second part.

What movies/books/games/events/etc are you looking forward to? Be it soon for a year from now.

I find myself looking forward to Jurassic World. Didn't really like JP 2 or 3 BUT this one has Chris Pratt and BD Wong (which I find awesome they are bringing his character back). I am also looking forward to Age of Ultron. But I am not looking forward to avoiding spoilers. Going to have to get early tickets for that.

In real life news, I am looking forward to a trip to New York. Though I may have to put it off until March 2016 so that I can save enough money to get a nice hotel. Fortunately Lion King has no plans to quit their Broadway run anytime soon (I asked :P).

I've noticed that people around here tend to either dislike fanfics that are written in the first person, or think they're very hard to do right and like very few of them. I sorta agree with the second type: I really love first-person fanfics when I do manage to find a good one because they let you see something so unique about the character's voice/limited perspective, but there aren't very many good ones.

Well, to those of you who remember some first-person fanfics that you liked, rec those fics here! Give at least the title, and preferably the link as well, so the rest of us can check them out :)

Upset anon from yesterday

I feel a lot better today (sleep + food + you guys's niceness + more compliments on my RPing, including from two people who I look up to quite a bit), even though my advisor hasn't emailed me back yet. Also I have some really amazing friends who I talked to today about some of my insecurities about my parents and future and such (it's kind of a strange coincidence -- we met through fandom, but we all have emotionally abusive parents, so when we're not having side-splitting shenanigans, we're an accidental support group for each other) and they killed my daily burst of despair so I'm extra-good now.

I'm sure I'll be anxious all over again soon, as my good moods never last much longer than whatever's causing them, and I'm an ambivert so I can't stay in that chat room forever, but I'm better. Thanks, all of you. When I'm that upset, it doesn't matter who listens and is nice to me -- strangers, friends, even authorities -- just as long as it happens immediately.

I am now imagining that whenever someone accidentally types "bear skin" instead of "bare skin" that they are referring to the people in a world where everyone carries around bear skins. But it's, like, really taboo to show your bear skin, so you keep it under your clothes or stuffed in a bag. And because it's taboo, it's really exciting when you get to see someone's bear skin. There's a whole fetish porn industry surrounding it, whole videos of people just touching each other's bear skin. And sometimes people will show just a little bit of their bear skin when they're trying to pick someone up, and there are even flashers who will go up to people in the park and whip out their bear skin and then run away.

Someone dear to me is starting on Citalopram. The only other med they take is birth control. Anyone here had any experience with it? Anything to watch out for? Did it *work*?

They don't have any health issues other than the one they need this med for (like, not diabetic or have heart issues or migraines or anything like that.)
