I decided to be adventurous today and cook my family a big Sunday dinner. I'm doing baked ziti (from homemade tomato sauce) with cheesy garlic bread and salad.

Anyone else want to share cooking? I'm just so excited by this and i hope it turns out good, it's the first time I'm making it and my dad's the one who usually does it, so I have a lot to live up to.

I submitted some secrets a while back, and never saw them posted - I look at every post, and look at secrets in the failbar. They were all one secret per comment and imgur direct links; I made sure to double-check. My only thought is that I submitted these secrets by clicking the "leave a comment" link on a secret submission post, rather than the "submit a secret" link... seeing as they lead to the same place, though, idk what's up. Is there another reason for secrets not to be posted?

How would you revitalize the fandom community?

There's a lot of yearning for the salad days of fandom community, but not a lot of momentum towards finding something new. Is that fixable? Can it be changed? How would you do it?

Tumblr can be a lot of fun as an aggregate, a kind of live feed of fandom, but as many note a full conversation is difficult. And LJ is probably never going to get its full life back. Would a new forum work, bringing the old into the new again, a la Something Awful? Could there be a fork of the chans devoted solely to fandom while preserving anon culture?

...Voat? Shit, nobody else is doing something with it except a pack of weaboo libertarian baby-stormfronters, just create a fandom hub and filter people in while locking the turds out.

How would you do it? Would you bother?

Someone beat me to the punch with the sexism thread. Oh well, you get two tonight. Is it sexist that in metal gear solid five, I keep all of my female soldiers out of combat roles? Even if they're S ranked soliers and completely useless in the other fields, I'll put somewhere where they won't be killed? I'm just not willing to put them somewhere where they could be killed.

Probably overthinking it, but how do you get your feet wet in fandom and make friends? I started a tumblr recently, but since it's just misc pretty pictures I don't have many followers. I've been wanting make friends on twitter, but I feel like people are dismissive towards friendless newbies. What do you guys do?

Inspired by Cooking! but how about baking? What are some good things you've baked recently? Anyone have a good recipe that they've done before that uses sprinkles? As in not for sprinkling on top but baking inside? I've seen one recipe that used sprinkles in dough but maybe they aren't meant to be used for baking but for decorating.

I made these confetti cupcakes and they turned out really good. The bit of almond extract really added to it.

I use sprinkles sometimes inside cookie dough. Or just in cake batter. I don't know if you're in the US, but they have a cake mix called "funfetti cake mix" and it's basically white cake mix with sprinkles. They melt when the make and there are bursts of color in the batter.

I did a Luke Bryan (country singer) themed desserts based on three of his songs.

"Rain is a Good Thing" cupcakes, where I used blue sprinkles in the white cake so that when you bit into them, it looked like a rainy sky.

"Drunk on You" and they were amaretto almond cupcakes.

"Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" which were cupcakes with Hershey's Kisses inside.

I love to bake cookies. I bought Star Wars cookie cutters recently and made Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Yoda cookies.

Peach pie. I found a basic recipie online, substituted five-spice powder for the spices called for in the recipie, and made my own crust using the America's Test Kitchen recipie for vodka pie dough. I made a lattice top that I brushed with egg wash and sprinkled with turbinado sugar. It turned out beautiful and delicious. Peaches are out of season here now, so I eagerly await the time I can make this pie again.
