Haha, me too! Unless I'm just really in the mood for it, I don't like fanfics that end outright sadly (I can deal with bittersweet). With other media, I don't really mind sad endings. I think it bothers me in fic more because I usually rely on fic to fix canon, not make it even sadder

I'm almost in the same boat. I was around for the old days but I was mostly a lurker, so while the discussions were fun to read, I wasn't taking part in them.

I don't hate Tumblr like some people here but the format really doesn't work for me for having discussions and that's my favorite thing in fandom.

It's a fantastic book, and it was also the first Real Novel I read when I was a young tween and really enjoyed for its own sake and capital-g Got.

Just fantastically gripping and with such good human Dickensian characters as well.
