I sobbed during both renditions of The Circle of Life during The Lion King in Broadway. Full on, slightly hysterical sobs. And then I teared up during many other parts of the play.

All of them with sad parts, because I'm a fucking faucet. Most recent was Hamilton, even though It's Quiet Uptown isn't even a good song.

I cried HARD during The Lion King and Hamilton, and definitely teared up during Wicked. And there you have the sum total of my live Broadway musical experiences, lol

The chorus I'm in just sang jesus christ superstar, and man. The woman we had for Mary Magdalene!! For some reason I just cried EVERY single time at "I Don't Know How to Love Him." She just had this really sad, sweet voice, and the way the orchestra would swell and she sung out and it just made me soo emotional haha.

Also I'm a huge goober and will cry literally every time at the curtain call. It doesn't matter if I'm in the show or just the audience, I just get so emotional! Like I can feel all the emotion coming from the cast and crew and it really gets to me.

since you've mentioned opera, oof, so many of my faves are the tragedies..

to give a few examples:
Rigoletto's aria to the nobles that had kidnapped his daughter, not knowing she was his daughter. (actually, that whole scene gets me in the worst way)
"Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" from Nabucco
Madama Butterfly's death aria. (Fuck Pinkerton and the little horse he rode in on)
Mimi's death aria in La Boheme (and unlike Rent, she does not have a miraculous recovery)
"Ai nostri monti ritorneremo" from Il trovatore (ugh, by this point, the opera has ripped your heart to shreds because everyone has hit the woobie status hard)
"Gran Dio!...morir sì giovane" from La traviata (she's been reunited with her true love ..oh, wait, she's dead)
"Vesti la giubba" from Pagliacci (because what comes after hits you with a sledgehammer right in your heart)

I don't know how I feel about this new information.

If you haven't heard, apparently, the freaks ex-wife tried to talk him out of the shooting. While he was buying the bullets she was trying to talk him out of it, while she drove him to the club so he could plan his attack, she tried to talk him out of it. She didn't ever call the cops on him, tho.

I think I kinda hold her a little responsible. Is that bad?

I was thinking about movies from my youth the other day, and one of my favorites was Willow. But even though it got that fancy blu-ray release with nice trailer I just linked to, it's still coming up on 30 years old.

This all got me thinking about ways to spread the Willow love, and the first thing I thought of was reccing it to people who liked the Lord of the Rings or Hobbit movies. And so the idea for this was thread was born.

If you've got a favorite movie that's, say, 20 years old or older, what are some recent counterparts you could compare it to? Or, if you have a more current movie that you really love and want to explore deeper into film history for more things you might like, ask away here.

Do you ever edit other people's fanfic or fanart for your own personal use? Let's say there's a fic you would love otherwise, buuut the subplot is awful or it includes a character you can't stand. Do you ever remove that stuff and save the edited version (but not post it anywhere, of course)?

Rhett and Link's daily show, Good Mythical Morning, has been decreasing in quality over the run of the current season. They announced the end of the season will be this week. About damn time, they've been at this for a while and they need a break. They've been following a pretty predictable routine lately of food challenges, let's plays, and list episodes. Hopefully in 6 weeks they will come back refreshed with new material and ideas.

So, with that in mind, the shippers in the fandom, who deny religiously that they're doing anything wrong by posting explicit fanfic in the main Tumblr tags, after members of the crew have asked them not to... and who ignore the fact that Rhett and Link themselves have repeatedly expressed discomfort with the idea of being paired romantically... are currently upset because the show seems "fake" right now, with scripted and repetitive material.

As if they have any idea what reality actually is.

We all know Chuck likes to joke around a bit about his marriage (although, that has gotten kinda dark recently) and in one of his reviews he did a joke about how easily some characters got kidnapped (I thought it was a DS9 review, but I can't find it) and he jokes that if they tried it with his wife then at least they'd need a packet of cigarettes on the end of a piece of string. Does anyone know which review that was of?
