It's mostly genfic and femmeslash, but with the occasional hetship thrown in. Fandoms are ST:Voy, ST:Voy/Pokemon Heart Gold, ST:Voy Elite Force (a very underappreciated PS2/PC game), Shark, Addams Family, Skyrim, Oblivion, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Saddle Club, and Narnia.

There isn't much fic at all for the black comedy Eulogy, but in my opinion, Blackout almost makes up for the slim pickings. The summary is '"So you hid in my closet? With your kids?" Based on a scene referenced, but never seen, in the movie.' Also, it's Judy/Lucy.

Clean is a short, pre-canon FFXIII fic set shortly after Vanille and Fang have been branded as l'cie. Despite the seriousness of that situation, they still find time to be ridiculously cute and in love.

First of all, I mean - I feel like I've been hearing rumors about this FOR YEARS. and it's not like I'm super tuned in to any of this.

Second of all, I strongly believe this and I am fairly certain that Weinstein is an enormous piece of shit.

Third, stuff like this always reminds me of how much more common this stuff most likely is than we want to acknowledge, across every single industry, across every part of society, including people we like or consider "on our side".

Fourth, unfortunately, I'm not sure whether or not he's actually going to go down. He deserves to but that doesn't mean that he actually will.

So, one of the criticisms of Reylo is that it's motivated partially by racism. Fans don't like the idea of an MOC touching a white woman, so they find reasons to ship her with the white male lead, even though he's the villain, on the side of the Nazi analogue. There are cases where it certainly seems there's some merit to this, such as when people argue that Kylo is a better person than Finn; when they argue that Finn has "had his story" and should therefore not be a main character in the following films; and when they outright try to erase Finn from TFA.

But. There's this weird argument that pops up from time to time linking Reylo shippers to Rebelcaptain shippers. There's overlap between the two groups, which is really not surprising, considering they're two of the most popular ships in SW, if you go by AO3 content. They're more popular than Leia and Han (only by a bit. I think there are, like, fewer than 30 fics separating them from Jyn/Cassian, so I guess you could say that those two ships are tied. There's over 1000 more Reylo fics than Rebelcaptain and Leia/Han fics, though). It goes like this: Jyn is a racist character, so the fact that Rebelcaptain shippers are often Reylo shippers and vice versa is just further proof that Reylo shippers are motivated by racism.

But doesn't the overlap actually weaken their case? Rebelcaptain involves an MOC touching a white woman, after all, so if the reason people ship Rey with Kylo is that they can't stand the thought of a white woman being with a non-white man, then shouldn't Reylo shippers dislike the idea of Jyn being with Cassian? I guess the argument there would be that, since Jyn is racist, it's an exploitative dynamic, whereas Rey would not be exploiting Finn. Plus, there's the whole, "Jyn disrespected Cassian and never apologized to him" thing (personally, I think Rey disrespects Finn. I cringe at how she treats him in some of their early scenes, and she certainly never apologizes to him. On the other hand, I think Jyn has more cause to be angry with Cassian, given the context of the scene and the magnitude of his lie to her. Rey doesn't really have any reason save arrogance for being rude to Finn. This is something that I haven't really seen addressed in that part of fandom. Maybe I've just missed it).

Still. I just don't think it holds.

Beyond that, there's also a lot of overlap between Reylo and Stormpilot shippers (Stormpilot is even more popular than Reylo. You know what I find weird as fuck, though? The absolute most popular SW pairing by far is Kylux. Over 8000 fics, to Stormpilot's ~4000, Reylo's ~3300, and Rebelcaptain and Leia/Han's ~2300. I'll be honest and say that I'm totally willing to buy the racism- and sexism-focused criticism of Kylux, because here are two white male Nazi-esque villains, and people are wildly more interested in shipping them together than contemplating a ship with any of the other characters, all of whom happen to be either POC or female. And no, I don't think every Kylux shipper is racist, and I'm not gonna go into their spaces and yell at them because that's dumb, but I'd be very surprised if none were racist). If Reylo shippers dislike men of color, and especially dislike Finn, then why would they ship him with another man of color, and more ardently than they ship Reylo?

(Of course, it gets even more absurd when someone says they don't ship Rey with anyone, and they risk being accused of racism, as well, even if they ship Stormpilot. I've been around enough to know where that comes from)

And Stormpilot, since it involves Poe, brings to mind SpaceLatinx stuff. There's some contention over whether Poe should be treated as Latino. From what I've heard, Oscar Isaac intended him to be seen that way, so it makes sense to do so, but there are very understandable concerns about him becoming a caricature, and about people portraying him as a walking stereotype. So, there's some ongoing discussion, with some good stuff at times. It's an interesting contrast with how people feel Cassian should be treated, because it's basically taken as a given that Fest is the Star Wars equivalent of Mexico, and that his name should be pronounced as if it is Spanish, and that he should occasionally use Spanish words, and that he should desire to share his heritage. Bonus points if your fic title is in Spanish.

What does it mean to reduce a character to the racial identity of the actor who plays him, particularly in a world where that racial identity doesn't exist? Is the only interesting thing about Oscar Isaac the fact that he's Guatemalan, and the only interesting thing about Diego Luna the fact that he's Mexican? Is that all that these men, and therefore their characters, are?

I am very uncomfortable with these questions, because representation is a good thing, and it's wonderful how diverse the new SW films are. But they're in my mind, especially since I find more and more that I disagree with the idea that the films are a 1-to-1 reflection of reality, and that, because of that, it's wrong to try to view the characters' identities through the lens of the SW universe. I think that kind of defeats the whole point of imagining worlds where race and gender aren't treated the way they are in the real world.

(That's not to say there isn't room for criticism, because there always is. We can't create perfectly race-blind or gender-blind societies precisely because we don't live in one)

Me, I just don't want Rey to be linked romantically to anyone. I am 100% Rey/Force. And I also like Finn better than her, to be honest.
