Agreed! Reese, Malcolm and Dewey sharing a room with Malcolm and Dewey sharing a bed was something that made me feel seen. As a kid in the 90s, a lot of family sitcoms setup had each kid sleeping in their own rooms or in their own beds. I was always too embarrassed to let my schoolmates know that I had to share not just a bedroom but a bed with my older sister until I was 13.

The way the house was cluttered and worn down made it believable that Malcolm's family is working class and that they were behind on bills. This attention to detail for Malcolm in the Middle makes it a favorite, because it felt more relatable to see a working class family that struggled.

One of my favorite things about this show was how their house and possessions were always falling apart, they were always *believably* lamenting about bills and expenses, and the lawn was always dead. They even had two of the kids sharing one bed for a while. It was the only sitcom I can ever remember watching where you could believe that the family was genuinely working-class from the way their living situation was portrayed.

I remember the episode with the bat, I recognized the pattern on the plates they were eating dinner from and realized they were the same exact ones we had from the 99cent store!

Fucking good plates too, they lasted for years.

I loved this show as a kid. Rewatching it a few years ago, I just felt really, really bad for Lois to the point I couldn't enjoy it anymore. Her family really treated her terribly, for all they pretended they loved her.

Roseanne got the working-class family right. That show was a big hit. Very realistic.
My family had 3 kids in one small bedroom: me, my brother, and my sister. My sister didn't even have her own real actual bed: she had to sleep on a high riser bed that pulled out from beneath mine. A mattress on a steel frame. And when that broke, my parents had to borrow money from a friend to buy a new one.

I grew up in a poor, working-class family and felt so seen when I watched this show. All my friends had their own bedrooms and I had to share a bed with my sisters until I was sixteen. Then I got my own room, but all my furniture was a mish-mash of leftover pieces. I didn't get a matching bedroom set until my twenties and I was so freaking thrilled when it arrived.

For years I thought Gaby Logan was Gaby Roslin's married name. I only found out I was wrong when watching a quiz show recently & everyone laughed at a contestant answering Gaby Roslin instead of Gaby Logan.

i enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would, it's fun and kind of ridiculous in just the right way for me. but i kind of don't want it to get a season two because i know from experience that all the happy good-will the fandom has now will evaporate once a second season airs.

i've yet to be in a canon-gay fandom where the fandom didn't devolve into complaining about everything and i'm not looking forward to that happening again. :(

I'm really tired of horror creators of any media type thinking disgust and grossness is (or is a replacement for) actual creepiness and horror. It's not. Just because it makes me cringe out of disgust doesn't mean it's actually horrifying. It's just disgusting.

I mean, depending on the universe's rules on species and aging, she could be.

And obviously I don't want to judge the presence of something in fiction, but I feel like there's a lot more wrong with that picture than the possibility that someone is lying about her age.

I'm completely neutral on byler, I can get why people ship it and if it were to happen I'd be happy for those who are into it. But I do not for one second think that this will be the case, because outside of Will's one-sided feelings there is nothing there to suggest anything will happen between them in that way.

I also wish there weren't any romances in this show because I think almost all of them are fucking terrible(I half enjoy Lucas/Max but I think that's the actors doing the heavy lifting), I also just don't jive with 15 year olds finding true love forever.

(I'm writing this before the finale airs, if byler does happen feel free to clown on me in the comments, I really won't mind).
