On the other hand, we do have to remember that Artie is a teenage boy, with the requisite maturity level. Although it does bother me that the show whiplashes between depicting her as crushed by her social anxiety and as totally not affected by it at all (e.g. the laughing with friends in the Dancing With Myself sequence, although to be fair that may be a case of unreliable narrator as we're seeing her through Artie's eyes.)

There's nothing wrong with watching something because an actor you love is in it, whether you like the actual tv show/movie or not. I personally love Criminal Minds, but even if I didn't I think I would still watch it because the Gube is just that adorable.

I never was into the whole J2/Wincest thing. None of it squicks me at all, it's just not interesting for me. But I did love the original gritty, dark, but overall simple premise of the story. Got some dudes, some guns, some salt, awesome music and a kickass car. That was "my" show.

Season three came and I said bye-bye to the gritty darkness and the tunes I loved so much. The premise of the story was good but the writing sucked. I didn't mind the demons. I even really liked Rubella. It just didn't feel like "my" show anymore. But of course I stuck with it.

Then season four came along, and I saw Cas, and I fell in love. Unfortunately, I feel that even though Castiel is my favorite character now, he did sort of drag a shitload of crappy storytelling along with him. I don't think it's his fault at all. I blame the writers in how they chose to portray the Angels, and especially with their ridiculous inability to make a decent follow-up (e.g. Head of a Pin/Terrible Life; The End/Fallen Idols, etc...). That's probably the reason why I like Castiel more now than ever. He's becoming more like Dean (in small ways), a character I've loved for nearly 5 years, instead of being like the annoying creatures that are...well...annoying. At least in this case.

So do I miss how Show used to be? Definitely. Do I blame Cas or hate him for it? Not at all. Kripke, get a grip on it, get fucking RID of those horrendous comic book writers, and deliver what you promised us (i.e. good storytelling).

I think what they're doing with the character is have him be an old man in a young man's body, which explains his dress sense. They probably just hadn't figured that out yet by the time this was taken.

That bruise was one of the more subtle things to that episode (RTD is not known for his subtlety, lol) but it was the thing that stood out most to me.

I hated him for being such a bastard (but loved him for his insaneness...), but i hated her more for putting up with it. Their relationship was so fucked up. He used her and i'm glad she had the courage to shoot him, even though i would've liked an alternate S4 with The Doctor and The Master travelling around together.
