Broken into my Career

More then two years out of uni, doing petty jobs, and spending every free weekend doing volunteer work in my field, and I've finally been offered a position (well after a medical - which I won't fail, I previously passed it to carry out the volunteer work).

It's for the exact organisation I wanted, on their accelerated potential scheme.

Chances are this will quite literally be a job for life (government/public service).

Pretty fucking hyped.

p.s. Consider this a general job thread. Always seem to go down well.

I had the weirdest dream last night.

I went back in time, and found myself at summer camp. I proceeded to impersonate a girl who was popular there, even going to far as to steal her medication. Eventually, I got worried that I would be found out, so I revealed myself and returned the pills. Then I found out that so many people had come to the camp that year that there were going to be about 50 people per bunk. I was freaking out, saying that I was used to having about 10 and would never be able to handle 50, so I asked Snape as respectfully as I could whether I could transfer to a different bunk. He said that Gryffindor had over 500,000 students and Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw each had about 250,000, so I resigned to settle for what I had. As he was walking away, I told him that I had confessed and apologized for impersonating that other girl. He was like "Good job" and I muttered "Thank you..." and he turned back and said, in this weirdly agreeable voice, that he meant it.

That, my friends, was the prologue. Here is where the main plot kicks in.

When I was worrying about the amount of kids per bunk and wondering whether I should go home early or stay and be in the play, I met a really nice counselor, who turned out to be Steve Jobs, and instantly developed a crush on him. I was 11 and he was 17, so it was unrequited, but we eventually became good friends and stayed that way until his death. There were a few time-skips, one where we were older and I was clinging to him and saying I was his "fangirl" and he thought it was funny, and various other stuff like that until he was diagnosed with cancer and I practically begged him to get normal treatment. He got pissed off at this, and then I realized it was too late. He was giving a speech in a giant stadium with a walkway at the top, and me and my family were sitting in the top row, except that a family of trolls kept trying to take our seats. Then suddenly he died. I was really upset, and even more so when the trolls proceeded to smash our seats and theirs all the way down to ground level, breaking my mom's old film camera that held a number of pictures of me and Steve Jobs, but we climbed back up (befriending the trolls in the process) and the camera was fixable.

Then the entire dream changed. I was Spongebob, and me and Patrick ran past a guard into a watery area that opened into a swimming pool, and we had to solve a puzzle before the door closed or else the guard would get us. However, the door broke right as it was about to close, so the guard looked at us suspiciously, gave us a number of boxes of pizza, and told us to replace the door mats that lined the room by the time he got back. It was difficult, because I didn't like pizza, so I was tearing it into little bits and trying to sew them together, and I kept tasting it in my mouth. Patrick, meanwhile, had somehow made the pizza into a fluffy mass, so I congratulated him on being smart so that he wouldn't realize I thought he was stupid. Then I was me again, and my favorite boots shrunk, so I had to traverse a parking lot at night with my mom to get new ones. Her key card didn't work though, so I had to run back and get mine. It turned out the store didn't have the boots in stock.

Some weird secrets today

A more vague theme this time: WEIRD BUT AWESOME! Specifically, weird but awesome movies set in a semi post-apocalyptic and/or alternate universe in which bizarre happenings are seemingly kind of the norm. You'll see why I chose these two particular films, I hope.

First, Motorama. Next, The Dark Backward.

I'm not providing a synopsis for either, I'm afraid. I recommend going into these with a little foreknowledge as possible.

Additionally, I intend to reshow dethtoll's contribution of Amazing Video Weirdness as well as few other short weird but awesome things.

I got Chuao Potato Chip and Sea Salt chocolate bar as an early birthday present. (It's exactly what the name implies. A milk chocolate bar with potato chips and sea salt.)

As weird as it sounds, it's freakin' delicious. (Probably one of the best chocolate bars I have ever tasted.)

Faint/seizure thing

I sorta talked about this the other day, and I realize that I might have alarmed a few people, especially since I didn't answer back to the comments I got. I'm sorry about that, and I'll try to clear it up.

My doc was nearly 100% sure it wasn't an epileptic seizure, since I don't have a history of them, and the onset was typical of fainting.

The seizure triggered by the faint was from lack of oxygen to my brain, and my heart/breathing stopping. No permanent damage came from either of those. Severe vaso-vagal faints often have this effect, which is alarming, but harmless.

So there we go! That's also a little info for anybody prone to vaso-vagal faints, as well as some info for anyone who might witness one. God knows I scared myself and my mass media class, who had no idea wtf was going on.

Cowardice or Legit?

I'm beginning to think I just won't ever come out to my parents. We're very close and I love them to bits. They're also rather old and Catholic, and my dad in particular is perfectly willing to describe himself as a homophobe. They don't know any gay people personally (that they know of), and all my life whenever I've heard them mention friends' children or whatever who've turned out to be gay it's been with deep sadness for their parents.

I have no idea what would happen if I came out to them. I don't know if they could cope, or whether we'd ever repair our relationship. As things stand at the moment, I'm wondering if it's a legitimate choice to just decide my personal life is none of their business and just continue forever to not talk about it.

One hears people talking about how parents always know or suspect really, but in my parents' case I really think it would completely blindside them.

Help me pick my next set of fandom Sims

I posted this far too late last time to generate any response, so here it is again:

I've pretty much abandoned Sims 3 and gone straight back to Sims 2, where I am creating a neighborhood of TV fandoms. I'm starting with a suburb of sitcom families. Right now I've got Adult Jay Pritchett with Teen Mitchell and Claire from Modern Family (had to start pre-series to make ages and names sort of work), the Seavers from Growing Pains, and because I couldn't have a Mike Seaver without a Boner (oh, that's amusingly inappropriate), I've also built a Stabbone house.

But what should be next (Keep in mind, I'll probably do all of them, it's just a matter of when)? Cast your vote for:
* Family Ties
* Full House
* Roseanne

(And I kind of want to do a Brady Bunch house, but I think I'll save that for when I'm a few generations in and in need of both new blood and more legit fandom characters. Ditto Friends, and maybe Home Improvement, if by this point I'm not like "I need to build a suburb of drama/sci-fi/supernatural fandoms!")

So far there is one vote for Roseanne.
