I don't get it. Not trying to be a bitch here, but I really do not get it. I read a post on tumblr that basically said you don't have to have a vagina to be a real woman and all I could think was "wtf?"

I get that we're all trying to be PC and everything nowadays, but I'm pretty sure that you have to have a vagina to be female. Gender isn't some spiritual thing. It's not a personality trait. It's your genetic makeup. The same way you can't suddenly get hair implants, crouch on all fours, and declare yourself a chimp, you can't stitch on breasts and a vagina, wear a dress, and expect to be considered a "real" female.

I just do not get this AT ALL. Not the gender dysphoria (I obviously don't get that), but the whole argument that gender is a "mental" thing and that anyone can be whatever gender they want.

On one hand the part of me that likes to rebel against societal constructs is like "Yay! Do whatever the hell you want!", but the other part of me is just floundering because seriously, what?

Is this another PC thing like Asperger's where some people try to play it up like it's a blessing/superpower instead of a mental disorder, and that everyone who thinks otherwise deserves to die or whatever?



I'm going through amazon trying to look for books to help me get some insight into this. The reason I'm posting this Q now is because I've been assigned partners with this trans woman. We get along fine, and I do refer to her as she/her because she asked (and despite what some of you are probably thinking, I'm not a total asshole). Anyway, I overheard her saying to someone on the phone "I'm just as much as woman as she is!" and the first thing I thought was "No, you really aren't".

So I guess I'm just trying to make sense of this or whatever. I'd ask HER, but I like to save controversial questions like this for the Internet.

I want to post some gratuitous mush for my new fandom to FFN, but I don't want to use my primary account.

So I decided to clear out an old account to which I haven't posted anything for eight years and use that. But when I logged in I noticed that apparently the three stories on that account are still getting an average of about 30 hits a month. Do you reckon those are just webcrawlers and Google spiders? I don't want to nuke the stories if there're people still reading them, but it's been eight years, and it's not like they're that good? Think it's safe to just wipe 'em?

Ok so I got into a kinda amoral job and now I'm drowning in anxiety and sleep deprivation

To make a long story short: I left uni this year because I couldn't keep up with it, and I'm now attending writer's workshops. Unfortunately, the schedules of those prevent me from getting a proper job, and I needed the money.

So I wanted to start translating/editing stuff for uni students, since that's something I can do with my laptop at odd hours, at home. Unfortunately, the very first job I landed wasn't translating/editing, but outright making a paper from scratch. A paper on Law Philosophy with some of the big names, like Kant and Hegel. It wasn't right of me to accept, but I did have financial needs.

I'm regretting it so much. Philosophy is the first major I flunked out of, and having to read these white old dudes is giving me all kinds of nasty flashbacks. So I've been coping with procrastination, and we all knows that works awfully. Here I am, I have to hand out this shit before Monday at 8:30 or the person who paid me is going to be into deep shit (and my name will be tarnished before I even start my business); I'm having the worst case of anxiety I've had in MONTHS, shaking like a leaf. Haven't slept in over 30 hours, and all jittery with caffeine and just. can't. focus.

The worst thing is, when I'm like this (for I've indeed been like this before), insomnia hits me harder than Brad Pitt in Fight Club. If I were to take a nap, I'd have to swallow my meds. But if I did that, I'd sleep right 'till tomorrow and the paper would still not be finished.

I know this is all nasty and I should just go to sleep, but I can't in good conscience do that much damage to a person who trusted me, even if it was for something illegal. I guess this is just the rant of a sleep deprived anxious mess of a person, I'm not like... expecting you to fix things for me or anything. I just don't have anyone to confide in with this. :((((

I was just checking out the anon meme and saw where someone mentioned an anon who posted about their cousins who were brothers being secret lovers or something. Does anyone have a link to the original post? It sounds entertaining.

Eh, it was so transparently bullshit from the outset, there was no real fun.

We had a pretty good one recently where some guy was talking about his little sister crushing on him, and he was confused about what to do to discourage her, and that one actually sounded true.

IDK if anyone is still there so I'll post here...

Someone said that they felt really old on tumblr. I'm over 30 and use it, and maybe it's just because of the fandoms I'm in, but a lot of people I follow are a similar age or older than me. So, not not just for the young people.
