Anybody else bothered by this new trend of people (on tumblr especially) referring to themselves as "systems"? Like, "I'm actually two middle aged men and a cat living with Harry Potter and Eeyore in the body of a teenage girl" kinds of shit. To me this reads overwhelmingly like people with too much time and not enough attention co-opting a real (and rare!) mental illness and constructing some weird tumblr culture around it so that they, too, can have a shiny fancy Identity and feel special and oppressed, and it pisses me the hell off.

I'm continually awed by the power of nature. I recently stumbled into some incredible videos taken by people in shelter as a tornado is hitting and I cannot imagine how terrifying it must be to live it. My heart really goes out to people who have to look nature in the eye like that and lose everything.
