Do you ever look at older people in your family who have aged horribly or are just plain ugly, and worry that you'll look like that?

My mother has giant bags under her eyes, and I worry that I'll get them. I always thought I took more after my father's side, but someone recently posted pictures of her as a teenager on facebook, and I think her eyes are similar to mine.

Fedex woes

So my sister shipped me a very important package overseas to where I live - it's my laptop computer. It's over a week since they told her it would be delivered (because it got caught up in customs... or something) and now today the Fedex website told me it arrived at my apartment, and was signed for at the front desk. But the front desk doesn't have it, they said no package had come at all today, and furthermore the name listed at Fedex as the person who signed for it is an unknown person who definitely does not work there.

I called them just in time to report the issue, but they said they won't be able to get back to me until tomorrow morning earliest since everything is closing for the day. But I'm freaking out. I need it for loads of schoolwork, and I was already anxious about it being so late. Now if it's lost or stolen, I seriously don't know what I'll do.

Has anyone lost a package through Fedex or UPS or whatever? What did you do? If they say someone signed for it but that's not true, if it doesn't turn up they will be held accountable right? And pay me back? But ugh buying a new laptop is going to be more expensive than what my sister put down as my (used) computer's price, not to mention I'll lose all my files. Ugh I am freaking out...

Seems like culture's on the verge of something else. Not sure what. Cyberpunk is mad cool right now, and it seems like the younger kids are slogging through it. But it's not quite the mirror-shades/trenchcoat stuff of the 80s and 90s. We got done with dubstep's death a while ago. All the cool arty kids I know are into glitch-art and Witch House right now, with some curiosity for the palewave/Vaporwave side. There's some heavy thinking going on about identity, the internet, tech, and our place in things. I see kids half my age talking about Lain like it came out yesterday-- and they aren't the neckbeards of their generation. We've got driverless cars gonna crash one of the largest employment sectors (trucking) and general-use robot arms gonna crash the other (service & hospitality). Crypto currencies are real. People are talking about what happens when millions of people become unemployable through no fault of their own; how socialism actually makes sense in a post-scarcity economy. How coding needs to become a 2nd major Literacy. High-power flat computer-phones in EVERY pocket.

Feels like there's some movement coming gonna combine all this shit. Like, as big as the hippie movement was in the 50s/60s, to redefine EVERYTHING again. Some people are talking about a Fourth Turning ala Strauss-Howe theory... idk, just a big apprehension.
Help flesh this out. Where's it going? What's next level? What niche, cultish sub-sub-splinter-genres/websites/media capture tomorrow's zeitgeist? What's bleeding edge like RIGHT this second? HY hair is done for, manbun has its days numbered. Superflat/minimal design is getting worn out--vintage/hipster/handmade look too. Lunarcore was a quick. All the major websites are giving way to segmented social media apps, that are already losing ground by getting mentioned on local news all the goddamned time.

I took it apart and took a bunch of lint out of the fan. I used swabs wet with a little rubbing alcohol, which apparently is bad for heat sinks? I don't know.

I put it back together and I can't get it to come on. I don't know if it's the power supply, the power switch, the motherboard, or what.

I'm pretty unhappy.

Take it apart again. I did something like this last week and panicked until I found out that I'd disconnected a cable inside ever so slightly.
