I take public transport for about an hour. It goes bus (10 mins) then train (30 mins) then because we have this horrible time wasting city loop where I want the last station and there's no wifi in it, I get off early and catch a tram (15 mins) then walk (5mins).

Going home is the reverse, minus the tram, and takes about 45 mins.

Any complaints, rants, or general comments about any clinic you might go to?

Mine is kind of awkward. I'm American and living in the UK, and from America, I have a prescription sleep aid (after many years of struggling off and on with insomnia, and having no luck with "natural" aids like chamomile or the other non-prescription stuff you can get at any pharmacy). I'm getting low, so went to the doctor in the UK for the first time to talk about options. Turns out, they don't prescribe sleep aids here in 99.9% of circumstances, they prefer to send you to cognitive therapy or whatever. My doctor doesn't want to renew it, and couldn't resist a comment about Americans being overmedicated.

Now, I wasn't really interested in that debate, and I'm sure he has a point when he says in the US pills are usually prescribed sooner than they might be in the UK. But that doesn't stop me from being anxious about running out of mine. (what I take is also a mild anti-anxiety pill) I'm not too keen about doing the therapy or whatever either, I already know what my sleep anxiety issues are and how I'm supposed to cope with them. I don't have to take my sleep aid every night but I think I feel more secure knowing I have it. Maybe he's right and I shouldn't be on it, it's just disconcerting to have it taken away from me. I guess I should've considered that before, I just figured since it was prescription in the US it'd be a similar system here.

What makes you think that a fanfic writer might be trolling their readers? My usual suspects are the ones that suddenly spring out surprise pairings (the story starts out as A/B, but ends up as A/C, or it's tagged as A/B, but two chapters in it has been nothing but A/C, A/D, B/X).

What fictional characters, from anything, have you thought were possibly influenced by or meant to be fictionalized versions of real people? Like, have you ever read/watched something and thought "wow, that character really reminds me of [famous person] or [historical figure]"?

Sequels you want that never happened

What are pieces of media (could be books, movies, tv shows, whatever) that you desperately want a sequel to that won't ever get one or could potentially but it seems really far off? I know there are a lot of things that end with a setup for a sequel and they never manifest due to money issues/lack of interest/other factors.

I am still holding out hope for the planned sequel to A Vampyre Story, which was announced back in 2009 but is still on the backburner. It makes me sad. :(

De-lurking in fandom

So I've been a fandom lurker for something like 20 years. In all that time, I've never posted un-anon, and I only started commenting anonymously on stuff three or so years ago. Before that, I think I posted a couple fics on a kinkmeme. I'm considering making a tumblr, because that's where most of my fandoms are, but I'd prefer to keep it totally separate from my offline life. Pretty much everyone I know knows I'm a huge nerd, but I don't want coworkers or family finding my pornfic or whatever, and part of one of my bigger fandoms is currently going through some nasty account hacking drama that I'd prefer to stay the hell away from.

I went to set up a yahoo mail account to use for fandom-only stuff, only to realize too late that to activate the account, I had to use my real phone number, so I ended up making an account I can't use or get into. I already have gmail and (don't laugh) aol accounts attached to my real name, so they're out. If I want to create a fandom-only identity, what's a good, free email service to use, that would be easy to link to tumblr and doesn't require tying to my RL phone number or existing email accounts?

Also, I have no intention of causing drama. It took me 20 fucking years to seriously consider de-anoning, and in the 3 or so years I've been commenting anonymously, I've never trolled, sent hate, or deliberately fed trolls. Even sending nice comments makes me a nervous wreck; I'd be terrified to be an asshole.

I had a BFF. She was increasingly mean and guilt tripping and start of the year I just cut off all connections in the hope it will naturally fade out. I don't think she's realised cause I didn't say anything I just stopped responding and she didn't follow up. Not dealing with her has been great but I'm worried she'll confront me soon because her birthday is coming up.

Idk if any1 remembers but I posted last year, that she'd get angry that I didn't want her to live with me and would call me a horrible friend and breaks people stuff but then be rely nice and call me the best friend ever and I couldn't cut her off straight away because we were both bridesmaids for a third party she always back talks about and I can't believe it took me so many years and ppl pointing out she was shitty to realise.

do you think mods of a community or game have an obligation to be polite or professional? if they do their job in making sure the community or players follow the rules but are snarky assholes about it, like calling someone a stupid n00b for not reading the wiki page for the game, do you care? or should they be held to a higher standard?
