Just had to call the cops on my neighbors. The guy pulls up with his dog half hanging out the window, gets out, grabs his dog, and THROWS it across the road.

My cat again (good news, at least for now)

Last Tuesday I posted about my cat who was ill, and how worried I was. He was supposed to have a blood sample taken on Wednesday, and go to a clinic on Tuesday, and my mom was worried he wouldn't live until then.

On Wednesday, he had his blood work done, and the vet told us he had liver disease, and there was nothing that could be done, and if we took him to the clinic he might not live through it.

Well, it's a week later, and he's still around. A bit weak, but he's got enough energy to play with little balls and run over and jump on me if I sit down on the couch. He can purr again. It's hard to believe a week ago we thought he might not live for even a day longer.

Of course, he's still sick, and probably won't live too long, and might have to be put to sleep if it gets bad. But it's nice that he has some energy and seems happy for now.

A Sincere Question About Being Attracted To Men

Inspired by one of the threads above. But not really relevant there.

Okay so one frequent topic of conversation on the... I guess you would say feminist-leaning parts of the interest is a fairly thoroughgoing critique of a lot of the ways that men behave - in ways that are large and small, individual and structural. And these complaints seem fairly common and very sincere and, again, pretty serious and deep as complaints. And at the same time this is a conversation that includes a lot of het women.

And so my question is - and I want to emphasize again here how sincere it is - how the hell can you possibly be attracted to men given all of those critiques? Given all of the ways that men act in and out of relationships, if they're that annoying, why would you ever want to pursue a relationship with them? What thing embedded in that structure is worth pursuing?

I'm not trying to use this as some kind of way to prove anyone wrong or somehow prove that people or hypocrites or anything like that. I don't think there is anything wrong about any part of this. I just, really, sincerely, do not understand how the well founded criticism and the attraction live in the same universe.
