Some ground rules:

I can't read fic with English characters in. I'm English myself and dear God, some people abuse our colloquialisms so badly.

i will, however, look down on any fellow brit who says 'sneakers' 'sidewalk' or 'soda' etc. it's ridiculous. there are some words that will never catch on (i hope).

...for me right now, and I'm seriously considering doing furry art commissions for income. I'm a good artist, and I know some decent money can be made that way, once you earn a good rep for quality and delivery.

But I have two close friends who hate furries with a passion. If someone thinks Disney's Robin Hood attractive, then these two immediately declare that person a sick pervert who wants to have sex with animals. Drawing furry art is even worse, because the artist is perpetuating the sickness.

I'm not a furry, but I do find Disney's Robin Hood attractive. (Moredecai and adult!Simba, too...) I do NOT in any way want to have sex with animals. I just need more income, and furry commissions seem a viable option.

How long could I manage to hide drawing furry art from them? IDEK...

Just come out and tell them you're doing it for a quick, easy buck, and if they have a problem with that, they can fuck right off. People who want to commission furry porn are going to find someone to commission it from whether you take those commissions or not, so as long as you need the money and they're willing to give it to you, you should take it.

I think it started on the ff.net forums. The Social Equality Effort for Star Trek. Somekind of petition for the inclusion of gay characters in the upcoming star trek film. lulzy. the site is seetreklove.com and omg the forum is still there.

How many tries/episodes will you give a show before giving up?

When watching a new series, how many episodes will you watch, or how many attempts will you make to watch a show before deciding it's not for you?

I used to think it was fair to give something several episodes before writing it off, but I'm starting to think I can tell after one whether it's something I'll like or not. The few shows where I disliked the pilots, but still gave them another few episodes, I didn't like them after that, either. All the shows I love, I loved from the first episode. I can't think of anything that I was unsure about at first, but ended up loving.

What about everyone else?

I try to give a show three episodes. After that, I figure it either isn't me or is going to be so uneven that the good episodes won't be worth it.

Mine are: fandoms are crazy, it's just easier to see in the bigger ones and NEVER say anything that will goad fandom into proving you wrong (e.g. "I wish X was female so people would stop shipping him and his brother". Cue overload of genderbent incest fanart everywhere.)

Every time I read a smutty slashfic, and the POV guy goes on about how much better screwing a guy is than screwing a girl, I get insulted, and it kind of kills some of my enjoyment.

It would be one thing if the dude was gay, but they're usually portrayed as bi and straight-leaning. And I see it all the time.

I read a fic once that was pretty much the opposite, and it drove me nuts.

Dude A and Dude B were both "straight" outside of magically falling in love with each other, and every time they'd have sex one or both of them would complain about how much he disliked having sex with a guy and women were so much better sexually than men. I never could figure out what the hell point the author was trying to make with it other than her obviously having some issues.

This is going to seem like the most backward, unrealistic and uneducated question but I've had it bothering me for a long time so I thought I'd ask the masses here anonymously. For anyone who believes or practices any sort of rituals or "love blessings" involving a strand of hair and jewelery, I'd really like to be pointed in the right direction. I have a strand of hair that I've saved in a bottle on a necklace, but I'd like to do something more with it. It's really important to me, and I can't get another one. This is the only chance I have, but it makes me anxious just having it sit there. So for anyone who may have any actual advice, it would do me a lot of good mentally to have a way to step over this mental block that I have because of it. Thanks in advance, I know how nutty this sounds.

Here's the best advice you're going to get: Don't.

If you believe that kind of ritual does actually work (and I do believe that ritual/directed energy/call it magic, if you want can have at the very least a strong placebo effect), then what you're asking is for people to help you interfere with someone's free will. And that is not okay, no matter how you accomplish it.

I'm not saying that it's not okay because it violates some pagan law or karma or whatever. I'm saying it's a shitty and hurtful thing to do, or even think about doing or want to do.
