Ranting about inconsiderate people

Dear young man with a shiny new mini,

You have, for some strange reason, chosen to zoom right up behind me, to use the petrol pump I am parked by. This is odd, because there are three other identical pumps on this forecourt, all of which are free. I am currently making an important record of how much petrol I put into the car, and haven't even started my engine. I also need to tend to a couple of minor tasks that will take, at most, a minute. I need to do these before I start moving.

Beeping your horn once would indeed have alerted me to the fact that you are waiting, if I hadn't seen you before. I looked at you, made eye contact, and held up the book I was writing in. Quite what you hoped to achieve by continuing to beep your horn over and over again, I don't know. What you actually achieved was that I decided to act as if you and your needs were supremely unimportant to me, which involved slowly and calmly completing my tasks more thoroughly than I otherwise would have, slowly starting my engine, checking all mirrors and blindspots slowly and exaggeratedly, and very slowly pulling away. I would guess it took twice as long as if you hadn't been beeping over and over again.

If you are so desperately short for time, why didn't you go to one of the other pumps?

Friendly = creepy?

I'm a very VERY friendly person. I'm not exactly an extrovert (I actually really enjoy to spend time alone) but definitely love meeting new people and engaging in conversations with strangers, etc. Anyway, I talk -- and a LOT. When I'm excited, I end up babbling about endlessly about whatever subject interests me (though usually I made sure the other person is interested as well? Obviously, it's not nice when someone is spewing all that info at me and I just don't give a shit about it...), and generally overshare things.

I know I'm definitely not perfect and know there's several things about myself and the I am that I need/am trying to improve on. I sometimes have trouble with picking up on social cues, so that's one area I really am working on. Like, if someone doesn't reply back to me, I back off -- because I don't want to be that incredibly annoying someone who just won't stop. Otherwise? Not really.

My question is, since the subject has came up quite a few times during the last couple weeks, is: am I creepy? Obviously I'm just another anon on F!S and don't really know anyone in this comm, but I figured I'd mention and look at insight others may have for me.

And I swear, I'm not a troll or anything. Just really wondering about this. :(

Any good music recs for suspenseful times? Zombies chasing after you, some creeper following you in a dark alleyway.. You forgot to flush the toilet after taking a huge dump in a friend house..etc?

Sugar gliders and just one spider picture!

Sugar gliders today! They're fairly common and I think most people have heard of them, but here's a bit of infromation anyway. These adorable critters are native to Australia and New Guinea, and they're actually a type of possum. The flaps of skin on the sides of their bodies allow them to glide through the air from three to tree, and they tend to live aboreal lives. You'll also note that many of the pictures in this set have sugar gliders being held in hands. That's because they're a very popular domestic pet. Even so, trade in the pets isn't always legal, and while keeping them as pets might be common, so is taking them directly from wild habitats, sadly. Even in Australia itself, it's not legal to have them as pets in every part of the country.

Watching 'The Outsiders' and the scene where Ponyboy and Sodapop are spooning and whispering intimately in bed... BAD THOUGHTS! They're brothers, underage brothers! But why was this scene filmed so intimately, why does it look like Soda's going to kiss Ponyboy!? It feels so wrong... but I kind of want it. (The whole movie is pretty homoerotic, tbh.)

I loved it. I thought I wouldn't, going in, after listening to a lot of critics talk about it (Like Spill.com and whatnot) and I just, I did not agree with them at all. I laughed at parts so hard I cried, and I loved the dialogue. The whole thing was so...raw. It was everything I'd hoped for :s I feel so alone in this opinion, though.

Curious question: Economics… and Politics.

I’m not from the US, nor am I an Economics professor. Still, after hearing all the hoo-haa about the election on the internet, I need to ask: since firms are constantly on the lookout for cheaper labour and production costs, doesn’t that mean that, no matter what, America still wouldn’t solve its job problems because of its expensive labour and production costs? And also, does everyone really think voting for this-or-that politician can change the global economy?

I’m really curious about this.

I have a lot of followers who say they're big fans of my writing. So recently I made a post, offering to fill prompts/requests for fics...and not one person asked for anything, not even my best friend.

I've been losing interest in my favorite fandom recently, and hoped this would spur a revival. Instead, I feel like I'm one step closer to leaving it now, and that's sad.

My pet ferret, Charlie, passed away last night. He was ancient and hadn't been doing well lately, so it didn't come as a surprise, but I'm still feeling pretty depressed about it. I want to focus on the happy memories I have of him, though, so I thought I'd start a thread to talk about the good times we've had with our pets.

Charlie loved anything shiny. He'd try to carry off my cats' tinsel wands, go after laser pointers with as much vigor as the rest of the animals, and would just go wild over plastic bags and anything else that made crinkly noises. He also knew the sound of a treat-bag being opened, and when he heard it he'd stop whatever he was doing and scamper over to beg treats off of whoever had the bag. And back when my other ferrets were alive, they'd all gang up on my dachshund, Sokka, and pester him relentlessly while he just sat there and took it, waiting for me to rescue him. It was pitiful, but also kind of hilarious. Also, Charlie would make the cutest little ferret "dook-dook" noises when he ran.

So, what are your cute pet stories, f!s?
