i just bought all the supplies i'll need for my halloween costume (minus lipstick) and it was almost $140 USD, and that's with promo codes and careful searching for cheaper options. is this normal?? i told my mom i thought it'd be about $80 and she side-eyed that (i feel like i have to get her approval for everything) so when it ended up being way more i felt like shit after buying everything.

i'm going as meulin from homestuck and i bought a lot of stuff but a good portion of the price came from my clothes, which i will wear even after halloween, so i feel like in the long run it's not too bad. that seems pretty average for clothes, really?? two shirts, a skirt, knee-high socks and leggings for like $45.

idk i still feel guilty though. i don't like spending my money because i have so little of it. i haven't dressed up for halloween in a long time and i've never cosplayed so i have no clue if it's normal to spend this much.

There was a secret on here a while ago about misophonia, which prompted this big discussion about it. If it wasn't for that, I don't think I ever would have figured out that there was a name for the way I freak out at certain sounds, that it's an actual thing that troubles other people too and not just me being weird. So, I don't know if OP or the people who posted those resource links are still around, but I just wanted to say thank you because now I don't feel like such a huge freak for having problems with sounds like that, and I'm seeking help for it. :) F!S, you're awesome.
