Granted, three cups a day won't kill me and I don't usually drink that much anyway, to say nothing of my college days when I basically lived on borderline illegal amounts of energy drinks, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.

Media You Love But...

What is some book/show/movie/game you LOVE but could only bear to experience once?

Requiem for a Dream is a movie I love. I even own it on DVD. However, I've only been able to watch it all the way through ONCE because it destroyed me emotionally. I cried so hard during my first watch that I almost woke up my dad because I could not stop (I was probably too young to watch it). I've watched scenes here or there since then. But, I can't work myself up to watching the whole thing again.

Fairytale/Disney Live action

With all the fairytale and Disney movie live action movies they're making, next with Beauty and the Beast, apparently Disney is thinking about Mulan next (YESSS!) and apparently Dumbo directed by Burton (surprise fucking surprise).

Buzzfeed put out a fancasting for Mulan (http://www.buzzfeed.com/samstryker/mulan-live-action-cast) which I agree with, but can't help but be stuck wanting Remy Hii for Li Shang (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CBdkFsmUIAAzxcE.jpg:large)

Do you agree with the fan casting? Who would you want to see in the movie?

For me it's Melissa McCarthy. I think she's hilarious and love most of her movies, but most of the places I go online seem to hate her and think she's crude and unfunny.

Family Drama: Update

Hey, F!S. I'm the anon who was having problems with their brother.

I just wanted to thank you for your advice and support. I still suffer from low self-esteem, so you have no idea how much it helps.

For an update: my brother told my dad that he hasn't tried to talk to me because his life is so "dramatic" and "crazy" that he doesn't have the time. But he still has the time to post guilt-tripping statuses on Facebook? Okay...

Apparently, he also asked my dad for money. My dad said no, because we've all learned our lesson about giving him money. (He blows it on something stupid and then expects more.) He then told my dad that he's "never been there" for him (total BS; my dad's lent him the most money out of all of us) and that he "never wants to speak with him again." So I guess that's the end of their communication.

Yeah, I no longer feel guilty about refusing to respond to him. I still love my brother, but he's just throwing another tantrum right now. I'm really glad I didn't message him and get pulled back into this mess. Thank you for helping me to see reality, F!S.

what the fuck is wrong with me?

Feeling very lonely. I'm a 30 year old straight woman who has never had sex or been in a real relationship, and after over a year of online dating with zero results, I finally went on multiple dates with a nice, smart, normal, attractive-to-me guy. It seemed to be going well and I thought he was into it, but over the past week or so the texts have grown slightly noncommittal. We both had busy weeks so I tried not to read into it, but I texted him at 11 this morning to ask if he was free on Friday; it's now 9pm and he hasn't responded.

What is wrong with me? I have a decent job, living situation, and plenty of friends, but I am so fucking tired of being alone. And I feel like the older I get, the weirder it gets. Not knocking anyone who is happily single, but I want to get married and have babies and it seems that window closes a little more every day.

Probably a lot of this is due to growing up with parents in a very troubled (possibly toxic) relationship + years of self doubt/self consciousness. I've unpacked some of that in therapy and I don't believe it's visible unless you know me well. I just...I don't get it. That meme going around at Thanksgiving about how you had to tell your relatives you were still single while Charles Manson isn't hit WAY too close to home. Why can't I find someone?

Alternative to actual advice: share your sad stories of the day, romantic or otherwise.

If a secret is yours, and you don't want it here, delete it from your hosting site, and leave a comment here (anon if you like). When I've confirmed it's gone from the original secret, I'll delete it from mine. I know that probably seems like a lot of work, but given the anonymous nature of secrets, I can't just take any anon at their word when they say "That was mine, please delete."

But really, wouldn't it be more fun, OPs, if you popped back in with an update? If you've been here from the start, it's been seven years. Do you still feel the same and find it secret-worthy, or has time changed your mind or made the once scandalous seem tame?
