I don't mind fancasts but sometimes it's really embarrassingly obvious that while people want to cast diversely, they only know a handful of POC actors. So I love Idris Elba, but he's everywhere. Ditto Lucy Liu.

I know I saw this and enjoyed it, but I don't remember the details because it's been so long. But it was one of those lovely old fashioned ghost/suspense stories that the British do so well. If you don't mind my asking, what were your initial reservations?

He doesn't do overseas concerts at all? Huh. I can think of a lot of singers/bands with largely non-English lyrics that do American tours, so. That's kinda weird.

Like on one hand, I can see that the cake is lopsided and not as perfect as some particularly amazing-looking cakes that I've seen, and like, if I was in some jury for evaluating professional awesome cakes, I couldn't give that one a perfect score. But on the other hand, if someone ever made a cake like that for me, I would be so freaking impressed and thankful and it would be awesome. (Of course I'm not a queen of anything, so I guess the situations are different.)

I mean, I'm a Rin/Haru shipper, and I don't deny the subtext between Makoto and Haru, but I just found Makoto so incredibly boring so I can't get into the ship.

The series lost me with their sexy dominatrix characters torturing the hero with their magic dong-sticks. I just felt like I was trapped in the author's weird sex fantasy at that point.

It's been a loooooooooooong time since I read either series (I finished Count Cain, but dropped Black Butler after a few volumes), but does Cain count as a shota? Wasn't he in his late teens?

Does anyone really care that much about different interpretations, honestly? Like, does it really matter to the overall fictional universe one way or the other? It's not like there was tons of action and dialogue from which we could draw definite conclusions - in fact there's very little of that in the Silmarillion in general due to its narrative style - which means there's a lot of wiggle room when it comes to most characters in it, especially minor ones.

(Also IMO when it comes to the Silmarillion I'm of the opinion that fans can always go uber-Watsonian and claim that hey, not all old documents written by elves that have been cobbled together and translated and re-translated and edited and re-edited are reliable.)
