My nephew, who I usually take out on this day, is off playing with his great aunts in Florida. So, I have no plans other than I just bought myself a chocolate bar with maple bacon and smoked sea salt in it (my treat) and watching a Netflix horror movie marathon.

It was great. A lot better than Thor 1. Keep in mind that it is just a popcorn flick but it was still really fun.

Also I don't think hemsworth gets enough love for being thor. He was excellent!

What I don't get about every slash wank...

...is that both sides, pro-slash and anti-slash, always bring up the subject of compelling, well-written female characters in canons.

Of course there are plenty of well-written female characters. 9 out of 10 of my favourite characters of all times are women. But no matter how well-written a female character is and how much I like her, I will never want to read loving descriptions of her vagina and things that go in and out of it. It's just not the part of her that I find particularly interesting.

Fandoms/Fics you were surprised to find existed?

Found a fic for the movie The Hitcher (1987) last night. It's one of my favorite movies, but I've never heard anyone else talk about so I was pretty surprised to find a long, fairly in character AU fic for it last night.

Also, there's several fics for Xtro II on AO3! (The horrible sequel that barely qualifies as sequel to a good '80's B alien sci-if.) Apparently, one of the actors in the film was in the X-Files, so the fics seem to be crossovers of a sort.

What about you guys?

I dropped a vial of e. coli in bio lab. Thankfully, this was after they'd been treated and killed, but I feel sooo stupid. I hope this makes somebody feel better about dumb things they've done. Anybody else want to vent?

I already mentioned above that I don't think hemsworth and thor get enough love, probably because fandoms love for loki overpowers everything.

Who are some of your favourite characters who are overlooked in fandom?

Another of mine is Ted from HIMYM. Sure he can be really annoying but he is the lynch pin of the show and Randor does some really excellent drama scenes in the emotional episodes.
