Depression and loneliness are two themes that I love exploring in fic, but I have a really hard time finding ones that feel true to life but also true to the fandom/characters involved. So, can anybody rec me some well-done sadfic in the following fandoms? They can end on a high note, they can end on a low note, I just want to read something good, where if there is dialogue, it sounds like something real people would say.

So I went to Books A Million today to use a gift card and quickly remembered why I didn't like BAM. No chairs to sit and read, a teeny hardback for 17$...their clearance items are very interesting, though.

Is this even proper English? My mom's been saying it recently, and it makes her sound like a hilljack. But I've heard a few other people say it recently too. Like, "I used to go hiking every summer. Anymore I just don't have the strength in me."

This sounds so wrong to me. But is it right? Just curious.

Somehow, I doubt Call of Duty is popular around these parts, but I'll give this a shot anyway. Is anyone getting BO2? I'll get around to it (the line was WAY too long at EB anyway). I'm still a fan of the series, but I tend to wait for price drops/sales now. Or get it for Christmas. ;)

If you're a fan, what's your favourite game? campaign? mode? CoD4 is my favourite campaign, but I love spec ops from MW2 & 3. (Zombies gets boring after a while.)

Question for slashers! Do you notice a lot of difference between slash from Japanese fandoms and slash from western fandoms?

Asking because I have a friend who only ships m/m and insists that all anime/manga slashfic is horrible and full of offensive stereotypes. In my experience the goodfic to badfic ratio doesn't seem that different, but I read mostly gen and femmeslash so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
