I really don't get this trend. But I think the OP can take heart in the fact that anyone who loathes a group of people (particularly one as massive and broad as cis) enough to wish death on them is an asshole. Whether they're racist, homophobic, engaging in religious hatred, or wishing death on everyone who isn't like them, people like that aren't worth listening to.

Well, look, there are different kinds of people in this world. I won't tell you who they are because my mother told me not to talk to strangers. But, since I've already begun I guess I have to finish because my mother also told me that there are starving children all over the world. Starving for acceptance, angry and bitter. Starving to be seen as human. Starving for equality and starving for love. Starving people do desperate things and starving people fight back against the people who restrict their opportunities to not be starving. Opportunity knocks, someone said. Opportunity knocks on the door of the right kind of people, though. Not on the doors of starving people. Starving people don't have doors because if they do then they are trapped inside and if they're trapped inside then they aren't embracing their hunger. You aren't really hungry, they say. You could not be hungry if you tried harder, others say.

But what do they know? They don't.

I'm sorry, but the only thing I can suggest is you should just look for less insane fandoms, and I'm telling this as a gay man.

There are some nasty, pervasive and downright fanatical sets of people that in their quest for justice have become downright batshit, you can only avoid them and not get stuck in their drama. These extremists are just that, extremist; and damned be the day when we let our lives be ruled by them. That never ends well.

STOP TAKING IT PERSONALLY.

If you are not a member of the LGBT* community then of course no one's going to want to reward you for being supportive. It's human decency. And so long as you show it then no one will personally regard you as the human being who ruins everything in their generalised rants.

'UGH straight allies' or 'UGH cishets' doesn't always mean you. But you sound like you want cookies and read yourself into their highly generalised rants like they've personally offended YOU and fuck their problems. So maybe they probably do mean you at this point idk.

Think about why people get annoyed that you want praise for not being an asshole though. It's goddamn annoying. Be sincere in understanding that the LGBT* community has problems you don't. Support them but don't expect personal recognition. No one's sticking your name up on the 'RECOGNISED NON-ASSHOLE CISHETS' plaque.

Yeeeeah that's why I don't go into some tags. Particularly the 'kill all x/die x scum' etc ones.

Originally, that sort of thing crops up because people are really sick and tired of having to defend themselves from being marginalized all the time. They use it to vent. Then other people start taking that, and taking on that attitude all the time--the SJW. (It's not even a fair bet to bet that some of the people saying it are cis themselves.)

But there is indeed a significant difference between coming off a bad situation brought on by people being horrible to you because you don't fit their cis-het mold and venting 'I hate these people, they're awful, I just want to not deal with them for a while' (which I'm assuming you're fine with here if you're an actual activist, since it sounds like you are), and 'everyone who's not like me should die' all the time as a pervasive attitude. Sadly, the latter is the one that gets more attention, because that corner of sites is very, very vocal about it.

I have had my 'fuck non-queer people, I just want to curl up in a hole and ignore their existence right now' days, when I just can't deal with it anymore. But I know that's not...really an excuse to go onto Tumblr and start yelling about how we should kill off all the straight people. And these people are also ruining venting for the people who need to vent, because people assume that venting people are part of this very loud segment, and have the knee-jerk reaction that everyone who does it does it all the time, and not just when they have run out of patience.

That fraction of people also does it to other queer people. There's a lot of bashing each other in the LGBT+ spectrum, especially on Tumblr. Even within the same letter. (Apparently gay guys who are less naturally flamboyant are 'straight-acting' and 'self-hating'! Yeah.) It makes me really mad sometimes, because that plays right into the hands of the oppressive people, the people who really do want to take away our rights. Ugh.

Sorry to vent right back, OP. I'm just as sick of these people ruining it for the rest of us. If it makes any difference, most of us do appreciate straight people who want to help us. You need to get away from the toxic ones who don't.
