BLAME! to Receive CGI Treatment this Fall

So far it's simply a movie/episode within a movie, but this could be testing the waters for a proper sequel. Unusual choice to go with CGI, as I was always hoping for a true animated sequel to do it justice, but it's going to be interesting to see how they translate an almost dialogeless manga with an incredibly slow pace to anime.

I'm thinking the closest that's been done is the first episode of Texhnolyze, and if it matches that I'll be impressed for at least trying something unique.

I just saw he was a trending topic on Facebook and thought, "Oh, cool, he must be coming out with something new!" I was horribly, horribly wrong.

I don't know, I'm just kind of in shock. I got into "RWBY" last summer right before the second series started, and that webseries got me through some weird times. Now its creator is gone so suddenly (and tragically). :(

I was walking across the parking lot of my apartment complex to throw away trash in the dumpster when I see this huge, long trash bag laying on the side of the dumpster. The bag was the thick, black kind. Almost like a tarp. The type that you can't see the trash through. Which is unusual given that most people in the complex use the thin white ones that allow trash to be seen through.

Now that doesn't seem scary but, here's the thing, the bag was about the size and shape of a body lying on its side. You could even make out the outline of one. Head. Shoulders. Legs bent at the knees. Yes, the bag was that big.

That was when the paranoia kicked in and my brain is screaming, "Open it up. Open it up! It might be a body," only for a second later to go, "Don't open it. Don't open it. It REALLY might be a body." I was actually scared.
I couldn't bring myself to open it. Instead I returned home and told my mom that I saw a bag that looked like a body was in it dumped on the side of the dumpster. Like someone ditched the body there and ran. She could see that I was really worried and decided to call 911. Let the cops check it out.

Cops did come and they did check it out because ten minutes later I get a phone call. It's from an officer. And the way she sounded, she came across like she was accusing me of pulling a prank and wasting her time. Borderline pissed.

"Yeah, we checked the bag and it's trash. Nothing but trash. Not a body. Someone just didn't bother throwing it in the dumpster."

Which sent me off babbling, "Oh, thank God. I'm sorry for wasting your time. But I was really worried. It was shaped like a body. It had a head and shoulder and legs. And I didn't want to open the bag because if it was a body....I DON'T WANT THAT TRAUMA! SEEING A DEAD BODY!??? I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THERAPY OVER THIS!! NO, THANK YOU!!!!!!"

And that's when she started laughing. She realized then and there that I wasn't some punk kid pulling a prank, I was a paranoid kook.

Her whole voice changed after that. Told me not worry. Reassured me that it was just trashed. All the while still giggling. And then she hung up.

So, I made a cop laugh. What did you do today?

So I dunno who here has played the Tomb Raider reboot. I think I remember a couple users talking about it, but eh.

A lot of people read the relationship between Lara and the character Samantha as being romantic. I'm one of them, honestly, definitely ship the crap out of it. I came across some people in the fandom today who were saying that they hope, in the next game, Lara is revealed to be a lesbian. Okay, that would be cool. But then...then someone went and said, "or just make her bi, then everyone's happy," as if bisexuality is just the Compromise Option and not a legitimate orientation that someone could have.

And then someone replied to that saying they're sick of how LGBT people are treated, so she shouldn't be bisexual. She needs to be a lesbian.

Okay. Um. That "B" in LGBT? It supposed to stand for "bisexual." And this just shows once again how we get shit from both sides. We're not taken seriously, we're not considered legitimate, gay and straight people both think we're confused or trying to play both sides, and we're not as good as fully straight or fully gay people. And bisexual characters aren't as good as fully straight or fully gay characters, either.

And I know I'm making a bigger deal out of this than I probably should, but it just really, really touched a nerve. I hide my bisexuality until I get to know someone really well, because lesbians think I'm a fraud and straight men think I'm a slut. And to have people in my fandom say that making Lara bisexual would just be a way to try to make everyone happy or an affront to lesbians makes it feel like, once again, I've found a place where I probably shouldn't be open.

I cracked a tooth some time ago and now it's rotting. But I don't have the four grand it is going to take to yank it out and get an implant.

The most I have in savings is a few hundred dollars. And I don't have any dental insurance. (I just have basic health.)

I don't know what to do. Everyone I know is broke and there is no way a bank will give me a loan that big.

I wish I could yank out this tooth, put it under my pillow and have the tooth fairy give me four grand for it.

Due to a living situation best described as FF7 Cult House But With Gundam 00, a friend of mine is in desperate need of cash (it could mean the difference between her having to go to a shelter, which is bad news for anyone, let alone a transwoman, or being able to relocate to a much smaller place but stay out of the shelters) and so she's selling her custom-built gaming PC. I've posted about this before but no takers -- perhaps the price was too much? Well, it's dropped down to $700. Gonna be honest, that is a fucking steal, alright? Much shittier brand name desktops often sell for $800 or more. My current PC was built by her and I can vouch for her build quality.

BTW this is SF Bay area -- shipping will cost extra as she simply cannot eat the shipping costs, but it shouldn't be too terribly much more.

So someone wrote a fic based on one of my prompts at a fest. And it is a pairing I love and a particular kink I love. Only they included two things that are a quick for me (and that I had listed as things I didn't want).

I can see how with both they thought they were toeing the line, though, and not actually including those things. But for me they hit the squicks and I couldn't even finish.

So I'm not sure what to say in a review. I want to be nice, and usually I try to review by saying things I liked about something even if I disliked other things, but honestly I couldn't even read far enough to know if there were parts I liked.

What's the weirdest thing that shows up in your YouTube history?

I recently watched a bunch of videos of people removing mango worms from dogs. There is an entire channel devoted to this. (Don't look it up if you have that phobia of little holes. They look like that thing where people photoshop lotus seed pods over body parts and claim it's a parasite that burrowed into the person's skin)

I've also watched a large amount of videos of people making teddy bears parachute off buildings. Usually churches for some reason.

I was a badly immunocompromised premature baby, and around the time I was born, some other poor kid in the same town had a bad reaction to the whooping cough vaccine and it, to quote my mom, "fried his brains." Plus my parents were still doing the hippie thing--brown rice, non-fluoride toothpaste, solar panels, etc, etc, although this was pre Lancet study idiocy. So I didn't get vaccinated for whooping cough, and all my school vaccination records consist of the word EXEMPT. But I did get some vaccinations, I just don't have any record of which ones.

I finally have my own health insurance and I want to get vaccinated for all the common stuff I can, since I don't know which ones I missed and there's been a case of measles at my job and whooping cough's on the rise here. I don't want to kill some little kid whose parents didn't get them vaccinated or someone undergoing chemo.

So are there aren't any vaccinations that are dangerous to get more than once? (Googling "vaccine risk" is an exercise in frustration because ffs I'm not interested in fear-mongering bullshit.) And yeah, I'll ask my primary care doctor as soon as I'm assigned one, I'm just curious.
