I suppose this is heresy, but I enjoyed Led Zepplin's "Immigrant Song" more when half the lyrics were unintelligible to me. Now that I know what they're actually singing, it's somehow dimished the song for me.

When I heard the song Gold on the radio, I apparently misheard quite a bit of it. I heard "Chasing down the gods" as "Jason found the gods" and "I hope you find your dreams" as "I hope you find your fleece". I thought the song was about Jason and the Golden Fleece (which seemed to fit in with the "Gold" theme) and I freaked out and thought that was so amazing, I went and downloaded it right away. Then I searched the lyrics online, and the lyrics are just generic and vague. It's still kind of catchy, but they totally missed out on not writing about Jason and the Argonauts.

Barenaked Ladies' "The Old Apartment."

I thought the lyric was "she left me, and her body keeps me warm." So I thought it was a song about a guy torn up over a break-up, returning to the last place where he and his ex were happy, trying to recapture those old feelings and just falling into anger and despair.

When I found out that it's really, "she loves me, and her body keeps me warm," I'm kind of ashamed to say that the song lost a lot of its poignancy for me.

Foods you tried because of fiction

After watching the Avengers, my friend and I went to a Lebanese restaurant to get Shwarma.

I've heard of a lot of people trying Turkish Delight because of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Most of them were disappointed. I still got some when I went to a store that sells foreign stuff, and they had small packages of it... and I really liked it! But they don't have those little packets of it anymore. :(

I wanted to try crystallized pineapple after reading that Harry Potter book where some guy kept eating it, but I could never find it.

Bad fashion thread! Could be things that are meant to be fashionable, or things that are just lazy. Hair and makeup included! Do you ever see someone dressed in a way that just really turns you off? Is there a way you used to dress that now you despise and it's left a bad taste in your mouth? Things people wear, things people don't wear, what annoys you? Doesn't have to be reasonable!

What are some tactics to talk myself into going to that sushi place instead of the same restaurant with the same meal I get every time?

How to come out to parents without making a big deal out of it?

So I'm pretty sure I'm queer, and I want my parents to know that. They'll be fine with it, so I'm not worried they'll disown me or anything. But there's not really an opportunity to bring it up in casual conversation, and if I sit them down all like "I have something to tell you", they'll think it's some big life-changing announcement, when it's mostly just a piece of my identity I want them to know about. Basically, I don't want it to be a big deal, but I'm not sure how to do that.

I know I'm rambling, but I hope my point got across. I was wondering if you guys had any advice.

Random question, because this just came up in a conversation I'm having.

Say you're in an established relationship. You love the person you're in the relationship with, and you know they love you, too. You seem to fit together perfectly and you feel lucky to have them in your life. All is well.

Then, one day, you find out that you're the Love Interest to their Player Character. They confess they've been using save states and saving/reloading to get around significant points with the most positive relationship points with you. They've been doing this ever since you met.

What would you do?

Partner wanting to do sexual things you don't like

So, you're in a relationship with someone you're generally compatible with. You're more sexually experienced than them, which usually isn't a problem. Until they decide there's a specific sexual act they want to try out. You've done it in the past and really disliked it, and don't want to do it again. They say "I know I won't even like it, but I just want to do it once just to say I did" and you tell them that they're welcome to go do it with someone else but it won't be with you. Except you're not breaking up with them, even though it sounds like it. You really are okay with it if they go and do this one thing with someone else, and then come back. How unreasonable is this?

My best friend is currently in this situation, and thinks it's a totally reasonable solution, although the rest of us in our group of friends aren't so sure. On the one hand I want to be like "she's a grown adult, she can do whatever she wants, it's no one else's business" but at the same time it sounds like it could go disastrously wrong. But I also don't think she should feel forced into doing something she knows she dislikes.

What do you guys think?
