Little Disappointments

I've been wanting to bake cookies for a while now but haven't had the chance until today. I was excited! In my cupboard I had milk chocolate chips, sliced almonds, and a bag of coconut, plus all the usual ingredients, so I was even more excited that I could make some kind of Almond Joy-esque cookies and didn't have to go grocery shopping first!

Buuutttt, I was also thinking I should make the recipe a little healthier ("healthier") by swapping out some of the sugar for Splenda, so I did. The recipe called for 3/4 cup white sugar and 3/4 brown sugar, so I swapped out 1/2 cup of the white sugar with 1/2 c. Splenda, hoping that there would be enough real sugar in the recipe that the cookies would taste like they were made with it.

Well, they do. It's gross, they're gross, they're too gross to give away, so I just threw them all into the trash. What a waste of ingredients, time, energy, and hope. :~(

What do you use to make your secrets?

Photoshop? GIMP? Paint? Something else?

I used to have photoshop on my computer but lost it when I got a new pc. now I'm trying to get by on GIMP, because I can't actually afford to buy photoshop (the old version I had isn't sold anymore I think, and possibly not compatible with Windows 10). But now I have no idea how to make pretty secrets. GIMP doesn't even have a convenient way to outline text, it just feels so awkward compared with Photoshop.

Hillbilly was a good read. It's available on scribd as an audiobook, by the way. The $8/month fee for 1 audio book and 3 other books is pretty good compared to full price. (Not to say the service is perfect but I've read a lot of great books through it. Usually cancel my membership when I'm very busy, though.)
