AI narration is getting pretty good...

But I heard two funny slip-ups when the narrator of a YT video said "one thousand one thousand" instead of "one million".

Then on another video the AI narrator got tripped up over the unusual spelling of a name: "Meighan". It was pronounced a dozen different ways and it was HILARIOUS.

MEE-gun, MAY-gun, MY-gun, May-KHAN, Mee-GAN, May-GAN, My-GAN, Meeg-HAND, etc. Different one each time it came up.

CoffeehouseCrime makes frequent mispronunciations, and it's so jarring, but his stuff is 100% not AI. I'm guilty of it too actually; I think it's a lifetime of reading more than listening to media, and you pronounce them in your head for so long one way, that even when you get told it's wrong, it's very hard to change.

In regards to other channels, they're not using the couple of default AI voices, I've got no hope of noticing them. I don't know how anyone manages to notice things like that.

Text to speech has been around for ages before AI and not all TTS channels are using AI. (Nearly all of them ARE plagiarizing from Reddit or Buzzfeed, though, so it's a moot point.)

It's not pleasant to listen to (at least, not for me), but I think it might be useful for mute people or for foreigners who don't have a good grasp of the pronunciation.

Hmmm as a bi Yuri on Ice fan I always thought either interpretation was valid. It was genuinely very funny on rewatches how much more the flashbacks seemed to focus on Yuuri's crush on/fanaticism for Victor than on the girl he might've also had a crush on. It's such an overdone idea to throw in female characters into sports anime that clearly primarily exist just as potential romantic prospects, and even if he is bi I'm inclined to think it was an intentional red-herring (hense the sudden reveal that she is married to the childhood bully, which dashes Yuuri's potential attempt to confess to her, being treated as a tongue-in-cheek joke instead of a genuine plot development that impacts Yuuri as a character)

Batman Beyond was actually a horror-cartoon, convince me I'm wrong. I realize all Batman leans into the horror tropes, and BTAS certainly leaned harder, but BB picked that baton up and ran with it hard. It is like they took the instruction to make a kiddie version of Batman from the suits and made it their aim to fuck with that instruction every chance they got.

"healthy male friendships in fiction is almost as rare as gay male relationships" is taking it a little far, yes. Especially because the tumblr post is alluding to mainstream fiction, where no, friendships are definitely more common than gay relationships between two men.

But I'd also find it obnoxious for readers to tell the author of the work in question that their straight male character who has a close friendship is actually gay/bi because two men can't be close without a romantic/sexual relationship and anyone who says otherwise is a homophobe. Both male friendships and m/m relationships are good, and liking either or both in fiction is fine.
