That's how I feel about Kingdom Hearts. I'm iffy about the inclusion of Neku from TWEWY, even though I'm starting to feel more okay about it because I'm afraid that anymore than Disney and Final Fantasy will ruin KH.

Personally, I'm hoping she'll have learned some valuable lessons from the Meereen travesty (a plotline I maintain only exists in the first place because GRRM couldn't figure out what the fuck to do with her to fill the five-year-gap once he decided he wanted to cover that rather than skip it), and will now move the fuck on, and grow into a good queen. She's still young, and I think she still has the potential to become an effective leader. She has some good instincts. She needs better discipline, and to build a council of reliable advisers she can trust and that she will listen to.

Has nothing to do with any brand of feminism or just wanting a woman on the throne, incidentally. Clearly Cersei has not done too well as a ruler, and I'm pretty sure Asha would be an equal disaster in different ways.

are there people that insist she's canon bi or something? I haven't seen it, but I try to stay away. I agree with most of your sentiments -- yay, a lesbian character who's defining characteristic isn't a lesbian it's almost like gay people are exactly like straight people who would have thought. I don't particularily mind if people change her orientation for shipping -- that's all just fun and games, but do they really think she's...not a lesbian?

I always thought it was more of the Doctor acknowledging that Amy's grown up into a real adult. All along, he's thought of her as a little girl who he broke a promise to, and has acted as he would've towards her as he would've if he had been able to take her with him then. That's why he's so freaked out by her being a kissogram in the first episode, that's part of his problem with Rory, and that's why they had to have the revelation in The God Complex.

By calling her "Amy Williams" he's leaving behind "Amelia Pond". She's not a little girl who looks up to him any more, now she's an adult woman with a husband and her own mind.

That's how I viewed it anyway.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and just say... I agree with you, OP.

I really can appreciate both perspectives of Naoto-- both as trans ftm (And can understand being mad for Atlus dropping the ball on it) or a woman dealing with gender issues based on her choice of work in a very sexually divisive society. And I totally am okay with either interpretation, though I do have my own personal one. And it's okay to HAVE either perspective, I don't really believe one is truly right or wrong because to me it feels really subjective. And if you don't care for someone's take on that character in a fic or rp or what not, well, there's always the back button.

But I am worried about the wank that might come from what they decide to do with the Anime. Actually, I feel the same way with Kanji's issues too, and how they'll present them/deal with them/what not.

I guess I just want everyone to get along and not fight over it. Hopelessly naive and optimistic I know, but ;_; yeah.

Why would you make this when you're only halfway through the book? I'm about halfway through myself and your reaction is understandable (though really, so is his, given... well, just about everything. Do you expect all characters in all settings to act like they're from Fandom on Livejournal, 2011?), but it's pretty obvious his views are going to change during the rest of the book.
