Then it's Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same. This movie just as awesome as the picture above implies, in which three lesbian aliens go to earth to get there hearts broken. For the environment!

I just ordered a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I'm super excited about it, even though it's not a current-gen phone. The phone I have is so old, this will still feel like a massive upgrade. Does anyone have thoughts on cases?

My current phone (Samsung Intercept), I bought its case from a kiosk at the mall. I have no idea what brand it is, it just snaps on and has seved me well, other than some of the paint chipping away at the edges. My iPod, which is also super old (3rd Gen Nano -- the short stubby version from 2007) has lived its life wonderfully in a Griffin hard clear case.

So, I'm thinking maybe the Griffin Reveal. I like the idea of the Otterbox Defender series, just because I worry about being rough on things. I tend to drop them -- the ipod recently took a 3-4 foot tumble to the concrete and fortunately came out unscathed (bonus of being short, I guess). I also like the idea of it having it's own, built-in screen cover, but I really don't want to add a ton of bulk to this phone. It's pretty big for my pretty small hands as it is.

And I do think screen protectors are forever in my future. I know, the jerk-ass answer is "One pocket just for phone!! It's not hard!!" but I don't always think about that, and I like the extra security of knowing I don't necessarily need to. Plus, I was really late adopter to touchscreens and still haven't quite gotten over the feeling like my hands are never clean enough.

So -- specifically for S3 users, but I'll take any advice, too -- what do you have? How do you like it? Thoughts on what I should get?

Bad Classroom Teacher

So I have been in my classroom for almost 2 weeks. We are still only doing worksheets (apparently this is all they do). So in a 45 minute class, they do 15 minutes of work then play on the computer until the next block. The worksheet topics are not even connected most of the time! One day they are finding the average and the next they are doing multiplication.

My teacher is an idiot (or super lazy). He asked me how to pronounce onamonapia today because he forgot. I told him and he then mispronounced every time he used it while talking to the students. And then he explained it horribly, which is why I have to go back and re-explain. I do this for like 40% of lessons. He tried to teach a student how to find the average of some numbers (on a worksheet), and he just did one example. And that was him trying to teach it. I had to explain to the student after the teacher left and show him some alternative steps (like circling the numbers so you know how many to divide by).

AND NOW! Last week he told me he would be having surgery in October and might be gone 2-3 days (he was having it during out 4 day weekend). Today he tells me he talked to his sister (who had the surgery) and found out she was out of work for TWO MONTHS. I was like, Oh. And he assured me there would be a sub who has subbed before in his class. An 80 year old who is hard of hearing. And the last time she subbed, one of the students pushed her and she almost broke her hip.

But don't worry. He is leaving me plenty of worksheets!

Were you ever tempted to troll in any way, but ultimately decided it was too much of a hassle and you didn't? What was it? Do you regret it sometimes or are you glad you didn't do it?

ATM, I'm very tempted to troll the cultural appropriation tumblr tag. With all the Oktoberfest silliness going on -with lots of tourists in cheap, mock-Bavarian costumes - I think it might actually be funny to create a cultural appropriation call-out tumblr where you can complain about evil people appropriating "traditional Bavarian dress and culture", complete with pictures of POC in Dirndl and Lederhosn. There might just be enough blinded SJWs who would fall for it.

But really, it's probably not worth the effort.

A guy in my fandom left today for bigger and better things (aka real life). I always resented him, because I was jealous that everyone seemed to almost worship him. I never let on about it...I talked to him when I needed to, and treated him like everyone else, and sometimes I felt like I was choking on my words, but I couldn't let him know how I felt.

Of course, now that he's gone, I have a bad case of "he really wasn't that bad" syndrome. I have the overwhelming urge to apologize. But for what? He won't know. He doesn't know. And I can't just tell him. I can't just tell him I thought I hated him because people liked him so much better than me. He can't know. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I hope you never find out.

So I'm scrolling through Teen Wolf fic on AO3 and I come across a video, posted like it's a fanvid, of this person telling people what she thinks should be in Sterek fics. Like actual Dos and Don'ts. These are apparently based on her preferences and what she looks for as a reader but everyone should be writing them this way. I think. I couldn't make myself actually watch it.

Fitness

Hello F!S, I come to you in my time of need. I am looking to get in shape. Build some muscles. Get fit. I don't really care about weightloss, though I am overweight. It's more about getting fit for me. I am sadly the very opposite of fit or in shape and am very much lacking any muscles. :( So I ask you, what are some simple to do at home exercises or routines to start building muscles and getting in shape?

To make things trickier, I have joint problems so anything too active is out. I learned the hard way that I can't do any Tae-Bo/Kickboxing type of things if I want my hip to stay in the joint and pain free. :/ I also have back issues that make regular crunches/sit-ups rather painful and not productive.

I have no access to a gym and no money to purchase equipment, but I know there are probably a bunch of things I could be doing to at least get started.

Any suggestions, links, helpful words of advice very much welcome!

Venting

I've been home sick from work this week, and although I feel a lot better today I'm still kind of shaky and weak. Tomorrow is a big family dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday, and when I was talking to my mom earlier she asked if I thought I'd be up to it. I said I wasn't sure but I was going to try to, and she commented that if I skipped it my brother would go on about how much better than me he is because when he's sick he goes to work anyway and works 12 hour days for 20 days in a row without a day off, and she's right, because that's the type of person my brother is. No matter what anyone else is dealing with he always has it soooo much worse and he's soooo much tougher than anyone else.

Despite the ridiculous exaggeration he probably has worked a couple days when he was sick. But the thing is, he works in a huge office building where he rarely sees coworkers or interacts with anyone. I work in a medical office where I'm interacting with patients all day long, some of whom have compromised immune systems as it is. When I mentioned to my boss that I wasn't feeling well but wanted to try to come in anyway, she wouldn't let me because I can't be around patients like this.

My brother's birthday dinner has already been rescheduled once because my dad had to have surgery, and he threw a fit about it, and I know that if he we rescheduled again (which my mom mentioned) we'd never hear the end of it, and my parents agree with me that we just don't feel like dealing with his bitching, so we're just going to go and get through it despite the fact that none of us want to.

He chose a pretty upscale place so I'm going to have to get all dressed up and do my hair and makeup and everything and right now I hate the thought of that. Even just throwing on jeans and a t-shirt to run to the grocery today because I had no food exhausted me, so I'm not sure how I'm going to spend a couple hours getting ready and then a couple hours of dinner with a smile on my face while we all listen to my brother talk about how awesome he is.

I just wish he knew how to be a decent human being. *sigh*

Anyone else need to vent about anything?

I thought the pilot was fairly exciting (more so than Marvel’s AoS), but then I actually thought about it and now I have so many questions. Like, how is Keen still an agent after the thing with the pen? Is she just a bad agent (she apparently didn’t disclose the stuff she found under the floorboard – yeah, he’s her husband, but that’s not really an excuse)? Why did they have Reddington with the Magneto-type restraints at the “Post Office”, which had all kinds of surveillance and a control room, yet in the hospital, it was handcuffs and one agent that wasn’t even in the room? The thing on the bridge with the SUVs was visually interesting, but honestly, awfully dangerous for a guy who seemed to want his kidnapping victim alive and well for his final act. How were they set up for the thing on the bridge anyway – yes, Reddington seems to have planned some of it, but how did they know which way the FBI would go? What was up with the thing with scar, which was creepy when he asked about it (to be fair, I think that was intended), but creepier when she talked about it to the little girl? Why would you trust your tracking device when the dude you are tracking knows where it is? Also, I want someone to suggest a DNA test, because, really, it’s one of the first things that popped into my head when he said he would only deal with her and it would make me think the FBI is slightly more competent than they appeared to be in the episode.

OK SO I'LL TRY TO MAKE THIS SHORT. I've got a Best Bro, he's been my best friend since fucking 2001. He finished Law School with honors and he only has left to complete his thesis and give the Final Oral Grad Exam of evilness to be a Legit Lawyer.

He also has written lots of papers and contributed to University and Law Magazines with articles. He's presenting a new one in Valparaíso tomorrow morning (120 kms from Santiago, where we live) and wants me to come.

The thing is, I can't come. I work freelance, yes, but Wed-Tues-Fri are work days for me, SPECIALLY in the morning. (I cook and sell meals for the uni kids at the Music College of Univrsidad de Chile near my house. That means everything needs to be ready at 12:00.)

HE'S SO DISAPPOINTED. And... and he's right to be disappointed. Every time he has a presentation with a new paper or contribution or has to give a speech or whatever... there's always something preventing me to go. My scheudle is really tricky - has a lot of windows, but the lenght of those windows of time prevent me of doing anything that's not work or therapy because there's just not enought time and commute times are LONG.

I want to support him and be there for him, but I really can't (this time, at least), and he knows it, he knows how my scheudles are, and he's still so... disappointed. And he's the greatest guy ever, always there for me, and I know he resents I can't do the same for him. He was a mix of angry and sad when we said goodbye and hanged the phone.

IDK, guys. I just... I feel like a really shitty friend right now and don't know how to fix it.

You can take a look over at a YouTube account called Lionsgate BeFit (http://www.youtube.com/user/BeFit).

They have plenty of workout videos with many different exercises and a lot of them (that I have seen at least) don't require any equipment and can be done at home.

I'm not sure if you have to subscribe to the account or not to see all of their videos (as I am a subscriber myself), but if I remember correctly I could see quite a lot of them before subscribing.
