Somebody on Tumblr asked me to help them write a secret that should come up next week and it hit on a headcanon I happened to share. (Btw, I'm on the spectrum myself, so I'm not just whipping this up out of nowhere.)

Ever since I saw Guardians of the Galaxy, I want to say Groot just screams "autistic" to me, so it's my headcanon that the entire Flora Colossus species is autistic. Like, it's their normal neurology. They're the more 'classic' sort and are mostly nonverbal, but still communicate in their own way. Drax could also be autistic, but he comes off more like an Aspie than anything.

I also like to say Reginald Barclay from Star Trek: TNG could be on the spectrum as well. Likely Asperger's or PDDNOS. I think pre-emotion-chip Data fits as an autistic-coded character purely because he's so baffled by some social situations and misses social cues.

So I seem to have developed an allergy to the topical anti-inflamatory I was given to help treat my hip problem. I bought some topical benadryl, but it is still really itchy and sore and I have some hives. Should I be concerned? Should I go to a doctor tonight, or is it okay to wait until tomorrow, or can I just wait it out now that I've stopped using the first med?

A Serious Request About Tumblr

Can we just, in general, stop talking about Tumblr as a collective entity? Can we stop treating people who annoy us on tumblr as though they're representative of the site as a whole or of specific fandoms on tumblr? Can we try to be specific if there's people who are annoying us on there?

Because it really feels like we spend a lot of time just bitching about tumblr in really unproductive ways. And it feels like it just leads to inflamed, bitter infighting because no two peoples' experience of tumblr is identical.

So can we please try to knock that shit off? Thanks.

So I just found out on FB that a fandom friend (i.e. someone I have no RL contact with) has had cancer. I had... no idea. Based on what she said and her comments, other people DID know, so my guess is it was stupid FB hiding updates.

Not looking for advice, just needed somewhere to... be in disbelief, I guess?

From the sounds of it she's going to be fine, thank goodness. I just can't believe I didn't know. :(
