I've written a couple well known fics in my small fandom and really enjoyed the positive feedback. But... I don't really enjoy reading fanfic at all. Not for my primary fandom, not for any fandom. I DON'T KNOW WHY. I feel guilty because people expect me to read/comment actively. I try, but even when the fic is good I struggle to get more than a chapter into it and it feels like I'm being selfish.

I think even if I could spend as much time and money on fandom as I wanted, I still wouldn't produce more fanwork, participate more in fandom, or just all-out indulge as a lurker.

Because I feel vulnerable when I don't restrain the extent I feel and express liking for things.

I'm an abuse victim with serious anger issues who is still learning to not lash out. I identify with Anthy because she is an abuse victim who DOESN'T remain ~sweet and pure~ after being treated like shit for so long.

So it hurts a lot to see the fandom insist that she's helpless and blameless 'BECAUSE AKIO!!!111': for me, it denies what makes her meaningful and upholds crappy stereotypes about abuse.

(Secret because I've been called 'liar' and 'abuse apologist' for this. Not taking any chances.)
