Movies: Lord of the Rings. Sometimes Star Wars. But mostly Lord of the Rings.

TV: Doctor Who. Sometimes Babylon 5 or Buffy.

Books: Not really sure. I don't have any go-to books for reading when I want comfort. Reading itself is comforting, but I don't go to any particular books.

Stuff people don't get

That some people prefer to be left alone if they're upset. They seem to get that someone saying they want to be left alone might mean that that person is upset... but then instead of leaving the person alone, they decide they need to keep asking them what's wrong, keep trying to make them open up, and if "normal" tactics don't succeed, sometimes they move on to really obnoxious stuff, like mocking the person. Because MAYBE if you humiliate and belittle them for being upset and not wanting to talk about it, they'll start talking out of shame, I guess? Of course, they'll not only have to talk about something they don't want to, they'll have to do it with someone who was just making them feel even crappier. But I guess these people think that if someone is unhappy, the best thing is ALWAYS for them to have to talk about it.

Sorry to those who don't like these. It has been a while, I have a rant, and I figure other people might too.

Things that don't quite match your memory

Last week, I rewatched Little Spies for the first time in at least 20 years (maybe more like 25). Parts of it were practically ripped directly from my brain, that's how well I remembered it. But one thing that stood out was how young everyone was. Not just in a "by comparison to now way" but in an "I remember them being older way."

I'm sure it's just that I was probably younger than them when I first saw it, but it was still weird. Ditto for Peter Pan and the Pirates, a cartoon that was on Fox in the late 80s, early 90s. I just remember its art and voice acting seeming so much better.

What are some things where your memory doesn't quite matxh reality?

Who even wears fedoras?

I go to regularly to comic and video game stores and I've never seen one.

I'm convinced it's some sort of dumb conspiracy because I've never seen one of these so called fedora athetist neckbeards or whatever.

And if you're some severely depressed basement dweller shut-in you're gonna wear baggy comfortable things, not some weird get up.

Personally, I'm glad that it looks like it's going out on a high note, instead of dragging forever or losing momentum. The previous two episodes of this last arc were great, so I'm hoping this finale will be awesome :)

Non-Villain Fictional Characters That You Hate

I've been watching some old Scooby Doo episodes with my nephew and I realized how much I hate Scrappy Doo. He is such an annoying, waste of time on screen and I ended up skipping any episodes with him.

Also, after watching the new episode of The Walking Dead, I remembered how much I disliked several characters on that show (Lori and Glenn being the top two at the moment).

I'm working on a writing project right now, and I'm really, really stuck in the middle. I know how I want the story to start, I know how I want it to end but I have fuck all idea how to get from point A to point B. Any suggestions on how I can figure out a middle?

finding sources of articles

So I was working on an unrelated assignment when I accidently clicked on the wrong file and opened a fairly well written explanation of unions, right-to-work states, the working poor, Scott Walker, and so on, that I'd saved to my computer. The file was last modified/created in 2011. It reads like an in-depth explanation that I might've pulled from a blog post somewhere, or maybe even a post on FS or a similar site, but there's an outside chance that I wrote it. I don't think I did, but I can't find a source. Putting quotes from it into google or various plagiarism checkers turns up nothing. I wish I had access to Turnitin. Any ideas for where to look for a source? I'd hate to use any of it thinking I'd written it and forgotten (it happens), only for my unintentional plagiarism to bite me in the ass.
