Are they saying that to your face, or in their own spaces but you're seeing it because small fandom? Because if it's in your face, then you have all the right to tell them to back down. Even if not, small fandom spaces are still different from huge ones and everyone should be slightly more considerate.

I agree using random words is one thing but keeping in honorifics is IMO valid especially when you yourself admit there isn't a one-to-one translation. I mean, fuck, the official professional translations for a lot of manga leave in honorifics. You can't say you have sympathy for newer writers/fans and such and then go on to call people lazy hacks for doing something even professional translators often leave in for cultural context.

On the other hand, I never actually believed it was going to happen

On the third hand, I was (and still am) kind of terrified of the idea of a WOT TV fandom and the kinds of arguments and drama that would come along with it

Basically I have a lot of complicated feelings here

I'm into pretty boys too. But I usually pick ones that are actually pretty and relatively feminine in appearance in canon (femboy rights!). I don't really like changing any character's appearance at all unless it's for AU purposes (like giving them fangs for a vampire AU).

Honestly my favorite type of M/M ship is two pretty boys together where one isn't the top or the bottom but they both switch.

But yeah part of the reason why I dislike changing a characters appearance or anything from canon is that you get attached to the idea of them you made up and disappointed whenever you engage with the source material or run into other fancontent that depicts them as they are in canon. I think a of of wank surrounding headcanons and such ends up being because of this.
