I've watched it about four times so far. I'm hyped.

There's people eyeballing the CGI at the end and not being impressed, but it's pretty clear that's not finished product. Marvel's released some higher def/more finished caps online that make the suit look MUCH better.

I can grow to live with almost everything about spidey. Even the high tech lenses. I don't love them, but I'll live with them.

But that tiny fucking spider. No. Nice design on the spider itself when you get in good and close, but it's too fucking small. it looks so wrong. so wrong.

I've loved everything we've seen from this movie's marketing so far but not this. I think it might be the Spiderman thing. I just don't care about him, I'd hoped they wouldn't reveal him before the movie, and he didn't seem to fit in the trailer. The costume didn't look good, and he shows up at the most (apparently) charged moment with a quip. Everything else was so serious; his presence turned me off.

I didn't think Spiderman could do that.

I liked the little moment where Wanda gets upset, and Steve notices and says enough to Ross.
I'm curious about the Black Panther vs Bucky; I hope they patch things up by the end *wishful thinking*
I loved seeing Wanda vs Vision. Vision was a big question mark, but I figured if anyone could take him on, it was Wanda. I liked that it looks like she's protecting Hawkeye right then.
I also loved seeing Ant-man riding Hawkeye's arrow.
The prison gives me chills, and makes me very nervous for what's going to go down.
I liked that they tied in the previous movies
Tony looks like he's reached a breaking point, and he definitely was put through the ringer
Cap's call back to the first movie was great.

Mansplaining

Ok, I never got behind this whole thing, but as I understand it mansplaining is when a man tries to talk about women's experience as women as if he understands it more than the women he's talking it, yes?

Ooooor does it just mean a man talking about anything to women like he knows what he's doing?

I ask becuase I always thought it was the former, and while it was never a useful term to me, got it.

Then I read an article about the new ghostbusters and how in the int trailer Kevin saying "We should do something about these damn ghosts" was mansplaining? I mean 1. He wasn't talking about women's issues as if he knew what he was talking about and 2. wasn't the joke supposed to be that he is several steps behind the Ghostbusters who had already reached this conclusion? Not a great joke I grant you. A little bit Corporal Jones in dads army. but Mansplaining? Really?

So my sister is getting married next month. And she just today talked with our dad about walking her down the aisle. He had assumed that she didn't want him to since isn't taking her fiance's name. And she had just assumed he would and didn't realize that some people don't do that I guess?

Anyway, am I wrong to be confused? Confused that she, someone who isn't taking her fiance's name, not only wants dad to do that but never even considered that this was a thing that not everyone does?

I mean, I personally would never, ever want him to do that. I personally hate the tradition and find it offensive. But I'm not going to say other people shouldn't do what they want. I'm just confused?

Should I watch The Hobbit?

Inspired by the Hobbit thread we had a few days ago, I was thinking, should I watch the Hobbit? I've always loved the Hobbit book and I loved the LOTR movies, and I've gleaned a lot about the changes/padding/additions made to the movies, and so I'm not expecting a faithful or well-paced story if I watch it. And I recent started getting interested in seeing Bilbo and Gandalf and the dwarves onscreen, and I mostly just care about getting another dose of the LOTR trilogy's visuals and music and fight scenes and foreshadowing than in a good movie that stands on its own. And so I was wondering if, on those merits, you think the Hobbit movies would be something enjoyable?
