- When you're trying to tell someone something important or that you're excited about, and they're clearly not listening, but claim they were by quickly rattling off what you just said and changing the subject. It's like, fine, you were technically listening, but not really listening.

- People who take calls when you're with them, mouth "I'm sorry" and make gestures that indicate the other person is being chatty and they're trying to get off - then as soon as the person's clearly stopped talking, they ask or say something else. I don't think the person on the other line is the issue.

Extroverts who talk over everyone and don't give those who are quieter or who think before they speak a chance to say anything.

People who think that their idea of fun applies to everyone and try to tell those who like other things that they should "get out more and have more fun," as if what they think is fun is objectively fun for everyone.

People who think that if something is said as a joke that means anything goes and they can't be criticized for their statement because it was a joke. Also people who don't pay attention to other people's cues and use their teasing or even mean sense of humor with someone who clearly is uncomfortable or hurt.

You know what? The biggest one might be the social "how are you"? You know what, damn it, I'm not going to say "good" when it's not god, and you shouldn't ask if you don't want n answer.

People asking "what can I do to help?" in a crisis. They mean well, but... they also don't mean they'll pick up the dog's shit and drive the kids to school at six am. (Except when they do, which is great, but then offer that.)

People trying to talk to someone when they have headphones in. Or when they are trying to read a book. Those two things usually mean that someone wants to be left alone.

I need to write some romance prompts but I'm coming up with a blank. I already have a few canon-related prompts. Anyone have suggestions for general romantic or kinky scenarios you like to read for a wide variety of pairings? Or things you like to write?

Neighbor Advice!

I've just moved into an apartment building. I hear noises constantly, like one of my neighbors keeps their TV at obnoxious levels. Technically, it's supposed to be quiet hours between 10PM and 8AM. I play my music loud enough to drown out the noise around me until about 10PM, but because I don't want to disturb the other neighbors, I turn it off, yet the one neighbor keeps the TV blasting long past 10PM.

Any advice on how to handle this? I don't want to point blank accuse anyone, because for all I know it could be above or below me. I do have a management company but I'm not sure if it would be too petty to go directly to them. Earlier this summer they sent out an email reminding people about the quiet hours, but my neighbor doesn't seem to care. We don't speak either so I didn't want to just come out and be like "you are driving me up a wall and I need my sleep."

Any advice?

So close and yet so far

Blind Guardian, my favorite band, has a concert in Houston, 3 hours from me, on Monday. And I could afford a ticket. But there is no way my mother will let me drive back from Houston alone in the middle of the night, especially not while my dad is out of town. And since we share a car, I can't just go. Argh. I've been wanting to hear them for a while. And they are so close to me, and yet still unattainable.
