Honestly, I think F!S is wankier about Sherlock/Elementary secrets than actual LJ and DW comms for Sherlock or Elementary. (Not including in-fandom wank for Sherlock, which is also pretty awful).

also, this tumblr called sbarg popped up a few days ago and it seems to be an alternate reality game. it seems... legitimate? people have found codes placed in co-ordinates around the world and unlocked things on the blog. right now they're posting references to the world book encyclopedia, which leads to a link which leads to a code to cipher I believe?
it's all very creepy but personally I think it's cool because I love args.
Has anyone else here "entered" the game on this thing? I got the land of storms and vastness myself. Pretty angsty sounding.

So, I've been looking into going back to school, but I keep being reminded of why I left. Some of the requirements are just arbitrary as fuck- like I can never apply to Carnagie-Mellon's arts program because I took three years of maths in high school instead of four. And I'm barred from other schools because my high school didn't offer enough AP courses. Or because I got a 4 instead of a 5 when some examiners in my state would never give anyone a 5 because they have to maintain a false pretense of difficulty.

And it pisses me off because generally I'm applying to programs for the arts or history, in which case I feel like, unless I had some kind of terrible attendance/detention record in my previous schooling, why don't you just read my damn entrance papers/watch my damn audition and see if I qualify? Why does it matter if I took unrelated subjects for x amount of time or got a certain score on a specific exam? And why are my goddamn Regents scores so irrelevant outside of New York State?

My Fandom Unsolved Mystery: whatever made Tviokh, of Deleterius fame, delete her journal? I know there was a second round of wank about her Canon Nazi icon, but that wouldn't have fazed the Tviokh I remember--it'd just have made her a little more smug. Plus, she had a whole community full of people sucking up to her--I can't picture her giving that up.

Kind of like a "shit _____ fans say", except more about what you see them do online in comms and fic and stuff instead of what they say. Also, more bitter and wanky.

Only in HIMYM fandom do fans need to use at least two, preferably three, tenses of verbs in every descriptive statement about the main character.

Americans, what would you rather be called...

Okay, you know the wank drill of people whining and growling how wrong it is for Americans to call themselves "Americans" because, "There is South America and whole North America, therefore; people who live there can be called "Americans" too."

So, what do these people suggest Americans call themselves? "USAsians" or "USians."

Personally, I loathe this term. Not mention find it offensive that someone from another country can dictate what natives can call themselves. (Like telling a German, "I know you call yourself "Deutsch" but from now on, we say you should only use the term, "German. Thank you." But, this isn't about that.

I was thinking, rather than be called "USians/USAsians", I'd rather be called "Yankee." No one else on the planet uses that term. Yes, it can be seen as a slur but I'd prefer it than the other option. Thing is, I'm a Southerner and I still rather be called "Yankee."

If you didn't have the option of being called "American" any more, what would rather be called, "USian/USAsian" or "Yankee?"

I have determined that the source of the smell is his backpack, because he moved to the front of the room to copy something that the professor was writing on the board, but left his bag in the chair beside me. The smell remained. I had my nose covered the whole class.

Does this ever happen to you? You see an image, maybe a frequently-reproduced image, that's clearly of a character you know in a movie you know, but you just can't remember the context of the scene or moment the image is from?

Everything, seriously. When I want good original slash fiction, I have to look no further than Inception AUs. This isn't a comment on the fandom or anything (I was never in Inception) but there is an astonishing number of amazing AUs in that fandom, and it makes me so happy. The itch was there, and let me just tell you, no matter what I've wanted to read, fandom hasn't let me down yet. XD

I haven't been to ONTD in a long while. My last memories of the place are Super Troll Sunday (so much fun, oh my God...) the post about Beyonce's mother slapping her (which turned into everyone sharing and laughing about stories of their own childhood discipline) and a post about the saddest songs. Everyone was sharing stories.

Last time I sort of went there, it wasn't like I remembered. People weren't commenting on comments and having discussions. I felt like everyone was just getting their comment in and leaving, not giving a toss what anyone else had to say. I don't know why that is, or if it was just that post, if I was imagining things, or if that's the way ONTD is now. If that's how it is now, I want to know why people think it's become like that. It makes me super sad.
